American forward Elton Frazier (196-F-88) had a very impressive game in the last round for Contern, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 10. The 24-year old player was the main contributor (29 points, seven rebounds and four assists) to his team's victory, helping them to crush Basket Esch (#9, 3-7) with 23-point margin 86-63. Contern maintains the 4th position in Luxembourg Diekirch League. Contern is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 5-5 record. Frazier turned to be Contern's top player in his first season with the team. Former Canisius College star has very solid stats this year. Frazier is in league's top in rebounds (5th best: 10.3rpg) and averages impressive 56.3% FGP.
The second best player in last round's games was young American Chehales Tapscott (195-F-90) of Soleuvre. Tapscott had a very good evening with a double-double of 28 points and 13 rebounds. Of course Soleuvre cruised to a 78-70 relatively comfortable win over slightly higher-ranked Residence (4-6). Soleuvre's 8th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 4-6 record. Tapscott is a newcomer at Soleuvre, but is already one of team's top players.
Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Billy McDaniel (201-F/C-84) of Black Star (#10). McDaniel scored 28 points and grabbed twelve rebounds (!!!). Despite McDaniel's great performance Black Star lost 80-90 to the higher-ranked Amicale (#2, 8-2). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Black Star can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 1-9 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for McDaniel he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. McDaniel has individually a great season in Luxembourg. After 10 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 29.3ppg (best scorer) and rebounds with 11.6rpg (2nd best). He also has 2.5spg, 1.2bpg, FGP: 58.9% and 3PT: 51.7%.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Terry Bryant (185-PG-85) of Black Star - 24 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists 5. Samy Picard (196-PF-88) of Amicale - 23 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists 6. Mychal Green (193-G/F-83) of Soleuvre - 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists 7. Trenton Wurtz (203-F-83) of Musel Pikes - 20 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists 8. Anthony Simpson (203-C/F-87) of Etzella - 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists 9. Leon Powell (200-F-88) of Contern - 24 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists 10. Dustin Scott (203-F/C-85) of Residence - 13 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists
