37-year old forward Larrie Smith (198-F-75) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's best team Sparta and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 12. He had a double-double of 32 points and 13 rebounds, while his team crushed Amicale (#2, 9-3) with 16-point margin 101-85. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Sparta to consolidate first place in the Luxembourg league. Sparta has a very good season and are considered to have a run for the championship title. They improved their record to 11-1. In the team's last game Smith had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Sparta, through which he has constantly improved. Tennessee Tech University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Smith is in league's top in points (8th best: 21.0ppg), rebounds (8th best: 9.5rpg), assists (9th best: 3.4apg) and averages solid 58.7% FGP and 43.2% from behind 3-point line.
Second best performed player last round was Chehales Tapscott (195-F-90) of Soleuvre. He is American forward in his first season at Soleuvre. In the last game Tapscott recorded impressive 36 points and 7 rebounds. Of course he lead Soleuvre to another comfortable win 100-85 over slightly lower-ranked Black Star (#10, 1-11) being unquestionably team leader. Soleuvre's 8th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 5-7 record. Tapscott is a newcomer at Soleuvre and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.
Third place about best performers goes to forward Martin Rajniak (204-PF-78) of Basket Esch (#9). Rajniak got into 30-points club by scoring 36 points in the last round. Despite Rajniak's great performance Basket Esch lost 90-100 to the higher-ranked T71 (#5, 6-6). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Basket Esch can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 3-9 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Rajniak he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Rajniak has a very solid season. In 12 games in Luxembourg he scored 17.2ppg. He also has 4.7rpg, 3.1apg and FGP: 56.9%.
