The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Etzella (8-2) in Ettelbruck on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked AB Contern (8-2) 80-72. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Etzella was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 22-9 charge of AB Contern, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of German center Nadine Grieb (184-C-87) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points, 19 rebounds and 5 assists. American power forward Bridget Yoerger (180-87, college: S.Dakota, agency: LBM Management) contributed with 22 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Canadian guard Katie Donovan (178-82) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds for Etzella. AB Contern have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Etzella. AB Contern is looking forward to face league's leader Musel Pikes in Stadrbredimus in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Etzella will play on the road against Basket Esch and is hoping to win this game.
Second ranked Musel Pikes blasted bottom-ranked Racing (0-10) in Luxembourg 99-74. Racing is still unable to win any game. American power forward Christine Fisher (183-83) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners and Cathy Schmit chipped in 12 points, 9 assists and 7 steals (perfect from the field making all six shots). Musel Pikes' coach Erny Gruskovnjak felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American power forward Celeste Stevenson (180-82, college: W.Texas A&M) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 16 rebounds. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Musel Pikes. Defending champion (9-1) keeps a position of league leader. Racing lost their tenth game in a row. They still closes the standings with ten games lost. Musel Pikes will play against AB Contern (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Racing will have a break next round.
The game in Bertrange was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked T71 Dudelange (5-6) played at the court of 6th ranked Sparta (3-8). T71 Dudelange managed to secure a 7-point victory 58-51 on Friday. The victory was the third consecutive win for T71 Dudelange. They maintain fifth place with 5-6 record. Sparta lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. T71 Dudelange will meet higher ranked Amicale (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sparta will have a break next round.


Racing - Musel Pikes 74-99

Second ranked Musel Pikes blasted bottom-ranked Racing (0-10) in Luxembourg 99-74. Racing is still unable to win any game. The game without a history. Musel Pikes led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Musel Pikes forced 26 Racing turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Racing's players. American power forward Christine Fisher (183-83) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners and international guard Cathy Schmit (17-90) chipped in 12 points, 9 assists and 7 steals (perfect from the field making all six shots). American Guard Tasha Cannon (168-G-88) had a great game in the last round for Telstar, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 9. The 28-year old player had a double-double of 34 points and 15 rebounds, while her team beat Musel Pikes (#4, 4-3) 79-65. Telstar maintains the 8th position in Luxembourg Total League. Total League Round 9: Musel Pikes lose to Telstar in the biggest upset of the week - 6 days ago

Total League is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 9 rounds left. The most shocking disappointment of round 9 in the Total League was a home defeat of 4th placed Musel Pikes (4-3) to eighth ranked Telstar (1-5) 79-65.
