Best players of Luxembourg Diekirch League round 16 - Jan 9, 2013

American Bridget Yoerger (180-F/C-87, agency: LBM Management) had an amazing evening in the last round for AB Contern and that's her to receive a Player of the Week award for round 16.
The 25-year old power forward had a double-double of 22 points and fifteen rebounds, while her team outclassed, the league's bottom-ranked team Racing (#8, 0-12) with 28-point margin 74-46. AB Contern maintains the 3rd position in Luxembourg Diekirch League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. AB Contern will need more victories to improve their 9-4 record. In the team's last game Yoerger had a remarkable 53.3% from 2-point range. She turned to be AB Contern's top player in her first season with the team. University of South Dakota graduate has very impressive stats this year. Yoerger is in league's top in points (5th best: 20.3ppg), rebounds (5th best: 10.8rpg), assists (2nd best: 4.3apg) and averages solid 3.5spg and 52.7% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 24-year old American power forward Meghan Gardler (180-F/C-88) of Amicale. Gardler impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 29 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Amicale lost that game 66-77 to the higher-ranked Musel Pikes (#1, 11-1). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Amicale still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. Her team's 7-6 record is not bad at all. Gardler is well-known by Amicale fans and she already established her position as one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 26.5ppg (#1). She also registered 11.5 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was American Kayla Tetschlag (182-G/F-89) of Racing (#8). Tetschlag scored 17 points and grabbed sixteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Tetschlag's great performance Racing lost 46-74 to the higher-ranked AB Contern (#3, 9-4). But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates. Racing can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 12 games. Too bad for Tetschlag she does not play for a better team. But maybe if she did, her season stats would not be that high. Tetschlag has individually a great season in Luxembourg. After only 7 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 21.7ppg (2nd best) and rebounds with 13.1rpg (#1 in league).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Katie Donovan (178-G-82) of Etzella - 20 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Latoya Drake (188-F/C-86) of Sparta - 18 points, 16 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Amanda Stowe (186-F/C-79) of Musel Pikes - 20 points and 9 rebounds
7. Esmeralda Skrijelj (180-G/F-95) of Sparta - 19 points and 7 rebounds

10. Nadine Grieb (184-C-87) of AB Contern - 16 points and 3 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
