The game between second ranked Etzella (12-5) and fifth ranked Residence (9-8) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Etzella was defeated by Residence in Ettelbruck 65-79. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Etzella. The game was mostly controlled by Residence. Etzella managed to win second period 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American players dominated the game. Forward Marcus Kennedy (193-84, college: Montevallo, agency: Interperformances) orchestrated the victory by scoring 31 points and 9 rebounds. Power forward Dustin Scott (203-85, college: Charleston) contributed with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Power forward Anthony Simpson (203-87, college: Kent St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds for Etzella. Etzella's coach Amadeo Dias rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Residence maintains fifth place with 9-8 record. Etzella at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. They share it with Amicale. Residence are looking forward to face league's leader Sparta in Bertrange in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Etzella will play on the road against the league's second-placed Amicale in Steinsel and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Diekirch League top team - Sparta (15-2) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat tenth ranked Black Star (1-16) in Mersch 88-78. Swingman Julien Hublart (192-88) stepped up and scored 33 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds for the winners and Kasey Ulin chipped in 26 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American power forward Billy McDaniel (201-84, college: Ark.-Monticello) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Defending champion maintains first place with 15-2 record. Black Star lost tenth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Sparta will play against Residence (#5) in Bereldange in the next round. Black Star will play at home against Basket Esch (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Belvaux was also quite interesting. Third ranked Amicale (12-5) played at the court of 8th ranked Soleuvre (6-11). Amicale managed to secure a 7-point victory 106-99 on Sunday. Eric Jeitz nailed 30 points and 6 assists for the winning side. Mychal Green came up with 34 points (!!!), 8 assists and 5 steals for Soleuvre in the defeat. Amicale moved-up to second place, which they share with Etzella. Loser Soleuvre keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost. Amicale will meet at home Etzella (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Soleuvre will play against Contern (#7) in Luxembourg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Dudelange supposed to be also worth to mention about. 6th ranked Contern (7-10) played at the court of seventh ranked T71 (8-9). T71 smashed Contern 88-65. The best player for the winners was Ryan Sharry who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds. T71 moved-up to sixth place. Newly promoted Contern dropped to the seventh position with ten games lost. T71's next round opponent will be higher ranked Musel Pikes (#4) in Stadrbredimus and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Contern will play at home against Soleuvre in Belvaux and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 17 Musel Pikes beat Basket Esch on the road 75-64.

Etzella - Residence 65-79

Soleuvre - Amicale 99-106

The game in Belvaux was also quite interesting. Third ranked Amicale (12-5) played at the court of 8th ranked Soleuvre (6-11). Amicale managed to secure a 7-point victory 106-99 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Soleuvre won third quarter 24-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Amicale made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. The former international guard Eric Jeitz (191-86) nailed 30 points and 6 assists for the winning side and American forward Lee Fisher (195-89, college: Chicago St.) accounted for 16 points and 5 rebounds. American guard Mychal Green (193-83, college: Ohio) came up with 34 points (!!!), 8 assists and 5 steals and the other American import forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) added 21 points and 12 rebounds respectively for Soleuvre in the defeat. Five Amicale and four Soleuvre players scored in double figures. Amicale moved-up to second place, which they share with Etzella. Loser Soleuvre keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost. Basket Esch - Musel Pikes 64-75

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Musel Pikes (10-7) beat on the road 9th ranked Basket Esch (5-12) 75-64. The game was mostly controlled by Musel Pikes. Basket Esch was better in fourth quarter 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American forward Trenton Wurtz (203-83, college: Indiana St.) who scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward Brandon Gary (202-83, college: Hutchinson CC) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. Four Musel Pikes players scored in double figures. Musel Pikes' coach Frank Baum allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Lawrence Wright (194-84, college: Bradley) produced 26 points and 6 rebounds and international Martin Rajniak (204-78, college: CSU Bakersfield) added 13 points respectively for the hosts. Musel Pikes have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 10-7 record. Basket Esch lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 12 games lost. Musel Pikes' next round opponent will be T71 (#6) in Dudelange. Basket Esch will play on the road against Black Star in Mersch and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Diekirch League top team - Sparta (15-2) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat tenth ranked Black Star (1-16) in Mersch 88-78. It looked good early as Black Star took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Sparta had a 25-17 second period charge getting the lead and Black Star was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 78-88. Sparta dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Black Star's 34. Swingman Julien Hublart (192-88) stepped up and scored 33 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds for the winners and American point guard Kasey Ulin (181-82, college: Dickinson St.) chipped in 26 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American power forward Billy McDaniel (201-84, college: Ark.-Monticello) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import point guard Terry Bryant (185-85, college: SE Louisiana) scored 24 points. Five Black Star players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains first place with 15-2 record. Black Star lost tenth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Sparta will play against Residence (#5) in Bereldange in the next round.
