The Regular Season in Diekirch League just ended.

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Sparta (15-3) in Bereldange on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by fifth ranked Residence (10-8) 81-78. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 25-10 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Residence have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Musel Pikes. Defending champion Sparta still keeps top position with three games lost.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Steinsel. Second ranked host Amicale (13-5) smashed one of their biggest challengers Etzella (12-6) 94-67. American forward Reggie Golson (201-81, college: SE Missouri St., agency: Court Side) notched a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and Samy Picard supported him with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Even a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds by American power forward Anthony Simpson (203-87, college: Kent St.) did not help to save the game for Etzella. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Amicale maintains second position with 13-5 record having just two points less than leader Sparta. Etzella at the other side keeps the third place with six games lost.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 18: Soleuvre won against Contern on the opponent's court 90-76. Musel Pikes unfortunately lost to T71 in a home game 73-79. Basket Esch managed to beat Black Star on the road 84-77.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 33 points (!!!), 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals by Mychal Green of Soleuvre.

Contern - Soleuvre 76-90

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Luxembourg where 7th ranked Contern (7-11) was defeated by eighth ranked Soleuvre (7-11) 90-76. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Soleuvre made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Strangely Contern outrebounded Soleuvre 52-32 including a 22-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. Americans were the main players on the court. Guard Mychal Green (193-83, college: Ohio) notched a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) supported him with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Even a double-double of 25 points and 26 rebounds by forward Leon Powell (200-88, college: SE Missouri St.) did not help to save the game for Contern. Forward Elton Frazier (196-88, college: Canisius) added 24 points and 8 rebounds. Soleuvre moved-up to seventh place, which they share with defeated Contern.

Musel Pikes - T71 73-79

There was a small surprise in Stadrbredimus where sixth ranked T71 (9-9) defeated 4th ranked Musel Pikes (10-8) 79-73. It looked good early as Musel Pikes took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then T71 had a 21-13 second period charge getting the lead and Musel Pikes was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 73-79. T71 shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. International point guard Tom Schumacher (190-87, college: Cal.Baptist) notched 25 points and 5 assists to lead the effort and American forward Ryan Sharry (203-89, college: Middlebury, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) supported him with 10 points and 14 rebounds. Five T71 players scored in double figures.
