Mychal Green
American guard Mychal Green (193-G-83) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for top-ranked Soleuvre, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 18.
The 29-year old player had a double-double of 33 points and 11 rebounds, while his team beat Contern (7-11) 90-76. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Thanks to this victory Soleuvre moved-up to the 1st position in the Luxembourg Diekirch League. Soleuvre is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 7-11 record. Green turned to be Soleuvre's top player in his first season with the team. Former Ohio University star has very solid stats this year. Green is in league's top in points (2nd best: 25.3ppg), assists (4th best: 4.3apg) and averages impressive 57.8% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 24-year old American Leon Powell (200-F-88) of Contern. Powell had a very good evening with a double-double of 25 points and 26 rebounds. Bad luck as Contern lost that game 76-90 to the higher-ranked Soleuvre (7-11). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Contern still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 7-11 record. Powell is a newcomer at Contern, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Billy McDaniel (201-F/C-84) of Black Star (#3). McDaniel showcased his all-around game by recording 24 points, eight rebounds and five assists in the last round. Despite McDaniel's great performance Black Star lost 77-84 to #2 ranked Basket Esch. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. Black Star can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 1-17 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for McDaniel he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. McDaniel has individually a great season in Luxembourg. After 17 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 25.4ppg (best scorer) and rebounds with 11.2rpg (4th best). He also has 2.5spg, FGP: 57.9% and 3PT: 44.9%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Reggie Golson (201-F-81) of Amicale - 27 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Tom Schumacher (190-PG-87) of T71 - 25 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists
6. Terry Bryant (185-PG-85) of Black Star - 24 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists
7. Brandon Gary (202-F/C-83) of Musel Pikes - 16 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Anthony Simpson (203-C/F-87) of Etzella - 24 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Kasey Ulin (181-PG-82) of Sparta - 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Lawrence Wright (194-F-84) of Basket Esch - 29 points and 8 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Jones' double-double lands him (Second Stage) Player of the Week award - 5 days ago
33-year old power forward Mike Jones (203-F/C-83) put on an amazing game in the last round for second-ranked Heffingen and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 7 (Second Stage). He had a double-double of 35 points and 25 rebounds, while his team beat Arantia (#3, 6-19) 92-80. Heffingen maintains the 2nd position in their group in Luxembourg league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier in Second Stage. Heffingen will need more vic...   [read more]
N2 Round 5 of Second Stage - 6 days ago
N2 is at the halfway of the Second Stage and there are still another 5 rounds left. Grengewald managed to get the fourth consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time they outleveled tenth-ranked Preizerdaul 88-66. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 22-point difference suggests that Grengewald is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. Grengewald have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with T.Hespe...   [read more]
