Diekirch League round 3 most important game was a victory of Sparta over 5th ranked T71 Dudelange 89-74 on Saturday night. The game without a history. Sparta led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by T71 Dudelange helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for swingman Esmeralda Skrijelj (180-95) who led her team to a victory with 28 points and 9 rebounds. American power forward Latoya Drake (188-86, college: Miami, FL) contributed with 23 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American forward Iasia Hemingway (180-89, college: Syracuse, agency: Merit Sports) answered with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds for T71 Dudelange. Sparta (7-10) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Amicale. T71 Dudelange lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with 11 games lost. Sparta is looking forward to face league's second-placed Etzella in Ettelbruck in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. T71 Dudelange will play on the road against AB Contern (#3) and is hoping to win this game.
An interesting game for Etzella (15-2) which hosted in Ettelbruck 4th placed Amicale (7-10). Second ranked Etzella had an easy win 89-64. It was a great evening for American forward Jessilyn Conicelli (177-89, college: Biola, CA) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. Annick Neiertz helped adding 19 points and 7 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Czech power forward Petra Manakova (195-82, college: Oakland) with 28 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Etzella have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain second place with 15-2 record having just -30 point less than leader Musel Pikes. Amicale lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with ten games lost. They share it with Sparta. Etzella will play against Sparta (#5) in Bertrange in the next round. Amicale will play at home against the league's leader Musel Pikes in Stadrbredimus and hopes to get back on the winning track.
An interesting game for Musel Pikes (16-1) which hosted in Stadrbredimus 3rd placed AB Contern (11-6). First ranked Musel Pikes managed to get a 14-point victory 69-55. It was an exceptional evening for Amanda Stowe who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. Bridget Yoerger came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds for AB Contern in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Musel Pikes. Defending champion maintains first place with 16-1 record. AB Contern at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. Musel Pikes will meet Amicale (#4) in the next round. AB Contern will play against T71 Dudelange and hope to secure a win.

The most impressive performance of 3rd round was 15 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists by Katie Donovan of Etzella.

Etzella outrebounded Amicale 34-22 including 21 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American forward Jessilyn Conicelli (177-89, college: Biola, CA) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. An interesting game for Musel Pikes (16-1) which hosted in Stadrbredimus 3rd placed AB Contern (11-6). First ranked Musel Pikes managed to get a 14-point victory 69-55. The game was mostly controlled by Musel Pikes. AB Contern managed to win fourth quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Musel Pikes forced 19 AB Contern turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Amanda Stowe (186-79, college: Wisc.-Green Bay) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. International guard Cathy Schmit (17-90) accounted for 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Four Musel Pikes players scored in double figures. American power forward Bridget Yoerger (180-87, college: S.Dakota, agency: LBM Management) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and German center Nadine Grieb (184-87) added 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for AB Contern in the defeat. American Guard Tasha Cannon (168-G-88) had a great game in the last round for Telstar, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 9. Total League is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 9 rounds left. The most shocking disappointment of round 9 in the Total League was a home defeat of 4th placed Musel Pikes (4-3) to eighth ranked Telstar (1-5) 79-65.
