Diekirch League is at the halfway of the Second Stage and there are still another 5 rounds left.

The game between second ranked Amicale (15-8) and fourth ranked T71 (13-10) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Amicale was crushed by T71 in Dudelange 94-74. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 94-74. The best player for the winners was American forward Ryan Sharry (203-89, college: Middlebury, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks. The former international power forward Frank Muller (194-88, college: Cuesta JC) chipped in 23 points and 5 rebounds. T71's coach Jan Enjebo used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International Samy Picard (196-88) produced 21 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. T71 maintains fourth place with 13-10 record, which they share with Musel Pikes. Amicale at the other side keeps the second position with eight games lost. T71 is looking forward to face Musel Pikes (#5) in Stadrbredimus in the next round. Amicale will play on the road against the league's leader Sparta in Bertrange and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Etzella (14-9) against fifth ranked Musel Pikes (13-10) on Saturday night. Host Etzella was defeated by Musel Pikes in Ettelbruck 87-75. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Etzella. American power forward Brandon Gary (202-83, college: Hutchinson CC) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Trenton Wurtz contributed with 13 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Musel Pikes' coach Frank Baum allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American power forward Anthony Simpson (203-87, college: Kent St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds for Etzella. Musel Pikes moved-up to fourth place, which they share with T71. Etzella at the other side keeps the third position with nine games lost. Musel Pikes will play against T71 (#4) in Dudelange in the next round. Etzella will play on the road against Residence in Bereldange and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Leader Sparta delivered the seventeenth victory on Saturday night. This time they beat 6th ranked Residence (11-11) 84-66 in Bereldange. Larrie Smith stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Dustin Scott responded with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Defending champion maintains first place with 17-5 record. Residence lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 11 games lost. Sparta will meet at home league's second-placed Amicale in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Residence will play against Etzella (#3) in Ettelbruck and hope to secure a win.

Leader Sparta delivered the seventeenth victory on Saturday night. This time they beat 6th ranked Residence (11-11) 84-66 in Bereldange. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 84-66. Sparta made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. Sparta outrebounded Residence 37-23 including 24 on the defensive glass. The former international forward Larrie Smith (198-75, college: Tenn Tech) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and American point guard Kasey Ulin (181-82, college: Dickinson St.) chipped in 23 points (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). Four Sparta players scored in double figures. American power forward Dustin Scott (203-85, college: Charleston) responded with 18 points and 6 rebounds and international point guard Pitt Koster (182-89) scored 16 points and 4 assists. Defending champion maintains first place with 17-5 record. Residence lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 11 games lost. Sparta will meet at home league's second-placed Amicale in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. His fellow American import forward Trenton Wurtz (203-83, college: Indiana St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. N2 Round 5: Soleuvre beats T.Hesperange by one after a very close game - 4 days ago
The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with games ending by tiny margin and even winless team recording their first victory. The most exciting game of round 5 in the N2 took place in Belvaux. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 4th placed T.Hesperange (4-2) to second ranked Soleuvre (5-1) 75-74 on Saturday evening.
