The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Amicale (6-2) in Steinsel on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by Musel Pikes (6-2) 83-73. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Amicale. It was a key game for the top position in the league. American swingman Jarmar Gulley (196-91, college: Missouri St., agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import power forward Clancy Rugg (203-91, college: Vermont, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) contributed with 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American forward Shavon Coleman (196-92, college: LSU, agency: Court Side) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds for Amicale. Musel Pikes have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Amicale. Musel Pikes is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Bascharage (#10) in Kaerjeng in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Amicale will play on the road against Sparta (#6) in Bertrange and is hoping to win this game.
Bottom-ranked Bascharage is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their eighth consecutive match to sixth ranked T71 (5-3) 115-85. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Cory Johnson (202-88, college: Valparaiso) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 4 assists and Denell Stephens who added 12 points, 20 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. T71's coach Philip Dejworek felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Trey Zeigler (196-91, college: TCU) responded with 32 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. T71 have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place. Bascharage at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. T71 will play against Basket Esch (#7) at home in the next round. Bascharage will play against the league's leader Musel Pikes in Stadrbredimus and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game in Bertrange was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Etzella (6-2) played at the court of 5th ranked Sparta (4-4). Etzella did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 89-70 on Saturday. The winners were led by Derrick Barden who had that evening a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 16 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from downtown making all five shots). Even 23 points by Brad Reese did not help to save the game for Sparta. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Etzella keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Sparta lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth place with four games lost. They share the position with Basket Esch. Etzella will meet Contern (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Sparta will play against the league's second-placed Amicale and hope to secure a win.

In the last two games of round 8 Residence was beaten by Basket Esch on the road 93-89. Arantia lost to Contern on its own court 71-85.

Basket Esch - Residence 93-89

The game between closely ranked teams ended with seventh ranked Basket Esch's (4-4) home victory over 8th ranked Residence (2-6) 93-89 on Saturday. Basket Esch made 27-of-34 free shots (79.4 percent) during the game, while Residence only scored seven points from the stripe. The winners were led by Serbian-Hungarian swingman Momcilo Latinovic (198-89, college: N.Mexico Highlands, agency: Mansfield and Associates) who scored that evening 29 points and 5 rebounds and American swingman Jermont Horton (198-84, college: Rutgers-Newark) supported him with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Four Basket Esch players scored in double figures. Even 32 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by American guard Everage Richardson (191-85, college: Co.Carolina) did not help to save the game for Residence. International forward Oliver Vujakovic (192-96) added 32 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. Basket Esch moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Sparta. Residence lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with six games lost. Basket Esch will meet higher ranked T71 (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Residence will play against Arantia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Arantia - Contern 71-85

Very expected game when 9th ranked Arantia (1-7) lost to third ranked Contern (6-2) in Larochette 71-85 on Saturday. Contern dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Arantia's 30 and made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Contern forced 29 Arantia turnovers. American players dominated the game. The winners were led by swingman Manny Atkins (198-91, college: Georgia St.) who scored that evening 31 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and guard Jesse Morgan (196-91, college: Temple) supported him with 29 points and 5 rebounds. Even 31 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by swingman Corday Sims (196-91, college: Peru St.) did not help to save the game for Arantia.
