N2 Round 16: Racing beats Heffingen by three after a very close game - Jan 15, 2017

The most exciting game of round 16 in the N2 took place in Heffingen. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of their biggest opponent Heffingen (13-3) to top-ranked Racing (16-0) 58-55 in the game for the first place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Heffingen. Undefeated Racing have an impressive 16-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-0 record. Heffingen at the other side keeps the second place with three games lost. Racing are looking forward to face Kordall Steelers (#3) in Rodange in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Heffingen will play on the road against T.Hesperange and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
Important game to mention about took place in Mondercange. Fourth ranked BC Mess (10-6) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 5th ranked T.Hesperange (9-7) 77-76 in the fight for the fourth place. BC Mess have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 10-6 record. T.Hesperange lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with seven games lost. BC Mess will play against BBC Nitia (#9) in Bettembourg in the next round where they are favorite. T.Hesperange will play at home against the league's second-placed Heffingen (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked Preizerdaul is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 16th consecutive match to sixth ranked Grengewald (8-8) 83-58 on Friday evening. Grengewald maintains sixth position with 8-8 record. Newly promoted Preizerdaul still closes the standings. Grengewald will meet Black Star (#7) in the next round. Preizerdaul will play against Soleuvre in Belvaux and hopes to get finally their first victory.

The game in Hesperange was also quite interesting. Third ranked Kordall Steelers (12-4) played at the court of 5th ranked T.Hesperange (9-7). Kordall Steelers defeated T.Hesperange 86-76 on Tuesday. Kordall Steelers maintains third position with 12-4 record having four points less than leader Racing. T.Hesperange lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with seven games lost. Kordall Steelers will face league's leader Racing in Luxembourg in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. T.Hesperange will play at home against the league's second-placed Heffingen (#2) and hope to win that game.

In the last two games of round 16 Soleuvre was beaten by Kordall Steelers on the road 98-81. Black Star lost to BBC Nitia on its own court 50-64.

Kordall Steelers - Soleuvre 98-81

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Kordall Steelers (12-4) beat 8th ranked Soleuvre (3-13) in Rodange 98-81 on Sunday. Kordall Steelers maintains third position with 12-4 record having four points less than leader Racing. Soleuvre lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 13 games lost. Kordall Steelers will face league's leader Racing in Luxembourg in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Soleuvre will play at home against Preizerdaul (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Black Star - BBC Nitia 50-64

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Black Star (6-10) lost to ninth ranked BBC Nitia (3-13) in Mersch 50-64 on Saturday. BBC Nitia moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Soleuvre. Loser Black Star keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. BBC Nitia will face higher ranked BC Mess (#4) in Mondercange in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
