N2 Round 17: Black Star edges Grengewald by one point - Jan 23, 2017

The most exciting game of round 17 in the N2 took place in Mersch. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Grengewald (8-9) to seventh ranked Black Star (7-10) 69-68 on Saturday evening. Black Star maintains seventh place with 7-10 record. Grengewald at the other side keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Black Star are looking forward to face higher ranked BC Mess (#4) in Mondercange in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Grengewald will play at home against the league's leader Racing and will have a slim chance for a victory.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Luxembourg. Leader Racing faced 3rd placed Kordall Steelers. Host Racing (17-0) defeated guests from Rodange (12-5) 77-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kordall Steelers. Undefeated Racing have an impressive series of seventeen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 17-0 record. Kordall Steelers at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. Racing will play against Grengewald (#6) in Niederanven in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Kordall Steelers will play at home against the league's second-placed Heffingen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Preizerdaul (0-17) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 90-44 loss to eighth ranked Soleuvre (4-13) in Belvaux on Sunday evening. Soleuvre maintains eighth place with 4-13 record. Preizerdaul lost their seventeenth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings. Soleuvre will meet higher ranked T.Hesperange (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Preizerdaul will play against BBC Nitia (#9) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game in Hesperange was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Heffingen (14-3) played at the court of 5th ranked T.Hesperange (9-8). Heffingen managed to secure a 4-point victory 78-74. Heffingen maintains second place with 14-3 record having just three points less than leader Racing. T.Hesperange lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the fifth position with eight games lost. Heffingen's next round opponent will be Kordall Steelers (#3) in Rodange, which may be the game of the day. T.Hesperange will play at home against Soleuvre and hope to win that game.

In the last game of round 17 BC Mess defeated BBC Nitia in Mondercange 70-59.

Soleuvre - Preizerdaul 90-44

Bottom-ranked Preizerdaul (0-17) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 90-44 loss to eighth ranked Soleuvre (4-13) in Belvaux on Sunday evening. They maintain fourth place with 11-6 record. Newly promoted BBC Nitia keeps the ninth position with 14 games lost. BC Mess' next round opponent will be Black Star (#7) in Mersch. BBC Nitia will play on the road against Preizerdaul and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

T.Hesperange - Heffingen 74-78

The game in Hesperange was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Heffingen (14-3) played at the court of 5th ranked T.Hesperange (9-8). Heffingen managed to secure a 4-point victory 78-74.
