Barden
American Power forward Derrick Barden (196-F/C-92) put on an amazing game in the last round for Etzella, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 17.
The 24-year old player had a double-double of 24 points and 14 rebounds, while his team crushed Sparta (#6, 9-8) with 18-point margin 100-82. Etzella maintains the 3rd position in Luxembourg Total League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Etzella will need more victories to improve their 11-6 record. In the team's last game Barden had a remarkable 69.2% from 2-point range. He turned to be Etzella's top player in his first season with the team. Former University of Northern Colorado star has very solid stats this year. Barden is in league's top in rebounds (8th best: 10.8rpg) and averages impressive 65.8% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 26-year old Belgian guard Christopher Jones (186-G-90) of T71. Jones had a very good evening with 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Of course he led T71 to another comfortable win outscoring Bascharage (#10, 0-17) 106-61. This victory allowed T71 to move up to 5th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 10-7 record is not bad and everything may still change. Jones is well-known at T71 and is a proven leader in his second season with the team.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Brad Reese (200-F-88) of Sparta (#6). Reese got into 30-points club by scoring 38 points in the last round. He went also for seven rebounds . Despite Reese's great performance Sparta lost 82-100 to the higher-ranked Etzella (#3, 11-6). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Sparta needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 9 victories and 8 lost games. Reese has a great season in Luxembourg. After 10 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 26.9ppg (3rd best). Reese attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Clancy Rugg (203-F/C-91) of Musel Pikes - 29 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Bob Melcher (189-G-94) of Amicale - 23 points, 4 rebounds and 10 assists
6. Ladarius Tabb (196-G/F) of Arantia - 28 points and 14 rebounds
7. Billy McNutt (203-C/F-85) of Etzella - 20 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists
8. Bill Clark (196-F-88) of Basket Esch - 24 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists

10. Billy McDaniel (199-F/C-84) of Amicale - 32 points and 7 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

N2 Round 9 (Second Stage): T.Hesperange tries to escape the last position defeating BBC Nitia - 18 hours ago
There will be only one (last) round of the Second Stage in N2. Bottom-ranked T.Hesperange managed to get a fifteenth victory on Saturday night. This time they outleveled ninth-ranked BBC Nitia 95-75. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 20-point difference proves that T.Hesperange was well-prepared to that game. T.Hesperange maintains sixth place with 15-12 record. BBC Nitia lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with 21 game...   [read more]
