There were just three rounds played in Second Stage of Total League and we can clearly see which teams will fight for top positions and which will try to avoid bottom places.

The game between T71 (12-9) and Sparta (10-11) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. T71 was defeated by Sparta in Bertrange 89-102. The game without a history. Sparta led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 26-of-34 free shots (76.5 percent) during the game. Sparta looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by T71 helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American forward Brad Reese (200-88, college: Texas Tech) who led his team to a victory with 36 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import forward Titus Robinson (201-90, college: Buffalo) contributed with 21 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Christopher Jones (186-90) answered with 30 points and 8 rebounds for T71. Sparta will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. T71 will play at home against Musel Pikes (#2) and is hoping to win this game.
An interesting game for Amicale (19-2) which played road game in Stadrbredimus against Musel Pikes (17-4). Amicale managed to get a 8-point victory 83-75. It was a great evening for American forward Shavon Coleman (196-92, college: LSU, agency: Court Side) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. Billy McDaniel helped adding 22 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American swingman Jarmar Gulley (196-91, college: Missouri St.) with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds. Amicale will play against Etzella (#4) in Ettelbruck in the next round. Musel Pikes will play on the road against T71 in Dudelange and hopes to get back on the winning track.
An interesting game for Residence (9-12) which played road game in Mondercange against BC Mess (12-9). Residence managed to get a 6-point victory 88-82. American players dominated the game. It was an exceptional evening for Ryan Nicholas who led the winners and scored 40 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. Elijah Bonsignore came up with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds for BC Mess in the defeat. Residence will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. BC Mess will play again against Residence (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game for Arantia (5-16) which played road game in Rodange against Kordall Steelers (13-8). Arantia managed to get a 5-point victory 88-83. American players dominated also this game. The best player for the winners was Ladarius Tabb who had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 19 rebounds. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
An interesting game for Racing (20-1) which played road game in Kaerjeng against Bascharage (1-20). Racing managed to get a 11-point victory 74-63. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a good game for Scott Morton who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

In League Contern beat Etzella on the road 98-89. Basket Esch destroyed Heffingen on its own court 104-54.

Musel Pikes - Amicale 75-83

An interesting game for Amicale (19-2) which played road game in Stadrbredimus against Musel Pikes (17-4). Amicale managed to get a 8-point victory 83-75. The guests were already 14 points ahead at halftime and as many as 16 after three quarters before a 24-16 last quarter charge of Musel Pikes cut the lead to 83-75 at the end of the game. It was a great evening for American forward Shavon Coleman (196-92, college: LSU, agency: Court Side) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. The former international power forward Billy McDaniel (199-84, college: Ark.-Monticello) helped adding 22 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American swingman Jarmar Gulley (196-91, college: Missouri St.) with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds and international power forward Joe Kalmes (200-95) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Amicale will play against Etzella (#4) in Ettelbruck in the next round. Musel Pikes will play on the road against T71 in Dudelange and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Etzella - Contern 89-98

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when Contern (12-9) beat Etzella (12-9) in Ettelbruck 98-89 on Saturday. Etzella trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 25-23 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 89-98 at the end of the game. Contern forced 20 Etzella turnovers. It was a good game for American guard Jesse Morgan (196-91, college: Temple) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman Manny Atkins (198-91, college: Georgia St.) contributed with 31 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Contern players scored in double figures. Canadian power forward Billy McNutt (203-85) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks and American power forward Derrick Barden (196-92, college: N.Colorado) added 23 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Etzella. Contern will have a break next round. Etzella will play on the road against Amicale (#1) in Steinsel and hope to win that game.

An interesting game for Residence (9-12) which played road game in Mondercange against BC Mess (12-9). Residence managed to get a 6-point victory 88-82. BC Mess trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 16 after three quarters before a 23-13 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 82-88 at the end of the game. It was a great shooting night for Residence especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. American players dominated the game. It was an exceptional evening for forward Ryan Nicholas (201-91, college: Portland) who led the winners and scored 40 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. Guard Everage Richardson (191-85, college: Co.Carolina) accounted for 34 points (!!!) (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Swingman Elijah Bonsignore (198, college: S.New Hampshire) came up with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and guard Gary Akbar (196-94, college: Texas-PB) added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for BC Mess in the defeat. Kordall Steelers - Arantia 83-88

An interesting game for Arantia (5-16) which played road game in Rodange against Kordall Steelers (13-8). Arantia managed to get a 5-point victory 88-83. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-16. But Kordall Steelers won second period 26-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Arantia dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Kordall Steelers' 38. American players dominated also this game. The best player for the winners was swingman Ladarius Tabb (196, college: Alabama A&M) who had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 19 rebounds. Guard Duke Mondy (193-90, college: Oakland) chipped in 25 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Arantia players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Marlin Mason (201-93, college: Cleveland St.) who recorded 32 points and 7 rebounds and forward Antonio Bivins (198-92, college: Mass.-Lowell) added 27 points and 11 rebounds respectively. An interesting game for Racing (20-1) which played road game in Kaerjeng against Bascharage (1-20). Racing managed to get a 11-point victory 74-63. The game was mostly controlled by Racing. Bascharage was better in fourth quarter 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Racing dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Bascharage's 14. They outrebounded Bascharage 42-31 including 35 on the defensive glass. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a good game for swingman Scott Morton (195-87, college: Geneseo St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Mark Ogden (206-94, college: Dixie St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Emilio Parks (198-92, college: Johnson C. Smith) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Phillip Leonard (188-93, college: Mercer) added 20 points and 4 assists in the effort for Bascharage. The game between closely ranked teams ended with Heffingen's (16-5) road loss to Basket Esch (10-11) 54-104 on Saturday. The game without a history. Basket Esch led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Heffingen to just 6 points in third quarter. Basket Esch shot 21 for 31 from the free-throw line, while Heffingen only scored four points from the stripe. Basket Esch forced 22 Heffingen turnovers and outrebounded them 43-29 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Basket Esch especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. Heffingen was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American forward Bill Clark (196-88, college: Duquesne) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). The former international power forward Alexandre Rodenbourg (202-91) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Five Basket Esch players scored in double figures. Basket Esch's coach Franck Meriguet felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Mike Jones (203-83, college: N.Texas) answered with 15 points and 8 rebounds and Serbian center Dusan Sisic (206-90) added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Heffingen. Defending champion Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders (BBL) tabbed 24-year old American guard Phillip Leonard (188-91kg-93, college: Mercer). He played most recently at Bascharage in Luxembourg Total League. In 17 games he averaged impressive 23.1ppg, 6.8rpg, 3.8apg and 1.1spg last season.
