Andorra - Malta 75:65

Andorra claimed the win in the first semifinal at the European Championship for Small Countries tonight. They held off Malta for the spot in the Final. Xavier Galera (182-PG-82) came up with 21 points for the winners.
Malta jumped to a 23:12 lead ten minutes into the game. Andorra slowly took over in the second quarter. They cut the deficit to trail by 8 points at halftime 33:41. Andorra narrowed the gap even more in the third quarter. They trailed by just 4 points heading into the fourth period 52:56. Andorra then stunned their opponents with a 23:9 run in the fourth period to seal a comfortable win. Oriol Fernandez (186-F-88) accounted for 14 points, 7 assists and 4 boards, while Rafael Casals added 12 points for the winners. Darryl Jackson (189-SG-85, agency: Interperformances, college: Warner Pacific) answered with 25 points for Malta. Samuel Deguara (223-C-91) tallied 22 points and 17 rebounds in the loss.

Ametx Zornotza (LEB Silver) signed American forward Mike Nwelue (196-95kg, college: Drury). He played last season at Depiro in Maltese Powerade League. He helped them to make it to the Maltese Louis Borg Cup Semifinals. He was averaging 25 points, 4 assists and 15 rebounds per game on Malta. The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Nwelue's college team won GLVC Tournament in 2015. He was also voted All-RRAC 2nd Team back in 2013.
