(14-18, 17-9, 16-13, 21-17)

Deprio came into the game favored over Luxol; the game started off neck and neck then Luxol took control of the game by going on a 7-0 run to get ahead 15-8 to take the lead. Depiro forged back cutting the game back to 18-14 Luxol at the end of the 1st quarter. Depiro took control of the 2nd quarter out scoring Luxol 17-9 and going into half time up 31-27 at halftime. Deprio kept control of the game after the half winning the 3rd quarter 16-13 and heading into the 4th quarter with a 47-40 lead heading into the final quarter. Going into the 4th quarter Luxol tried to fight back but Depiro fought it off and continued to stretch the lead out winning the 4th quarter 21-17 giving Depiro a 68-57 win over Luxol. Even though score would say Depiro controlled most of the game it was a lot closer game than the score seems to say.


Depiros Morgan scored 26 points and Adrian Micallef chipped in with 13. Shackleford and Vasovic replied for Luxol, with 18 and 17 points respectively."

Siggiewi 65
Loyola 38


Siggiewi was a heavy favor entering the game against Loyola and did not disappoint with their performance. Siggiewi continues to show why they may be the favorites to win the Malta League Championship this season. Siggiewi controlled the game and never looked back at any point during this contest. Siggiewi had three players in double figures scoring. Marco Matijevic led the with 21points for Siggiewi followed by Peter Shoults with 13pts and Louis Camilleri with 11 respectfully. Loyoal American players continue to struggle early on. Loyola was led by Stefan Vella with 12points and Anton Axiaq with 11 points. As strong as Siggiewi looks early on is as weak as Loyola has showed early on this may be a long season ahead for the Men's Club for Loyola.

Defending champion Bupa Luxol (Division 1) landed 24-year old American center Kyle Meyer (208-104kg-93, agency: KMG Sports Management). He just graduated from Houston (NCAA). In 32 games he averaged only 2.3ppg and 3.6rpg last season. As mentioned above Meyer is just out of the college and it will be his first season in pro basketball. Telstar Hesperange (N2) inked 23-year old American forward Pierce Cumpstone (203-88kg-94, college: Stonehill). He played most recently at Bupa in Maltese Division 1. He helped them to win the league title (twice). Cumpstone received CoSIDA NCAA Division II Academic All-District 1 1st Team award in 2016 at his college time.
