Steve's Articles

1. Latisha Belcher 6'2" C East Tennessee State University (NCAA 1) has been named Malta Player of the Week for her performance and leading her team to another big win over Athleta 85-51. Belcher in the win had 23pts, 17rebs, 3blks, 2stls,1ast FG: 9/11 FT: 5/5; Belcher was struggling very badly through the preseason and in the Shield Tournament with her shooting percentages but over the last two games Belcher is starting to look like the player Depiro thought they was getting when they brought her in avg 20ppg, 16rpg, 1.5bpg,1.5spg, 1.0apg FG: 16/18 88.8% FT 8/9 88.8%. I can say if Belcher continues to play like this the rest of the season it will be a classic Match-up when Depiro vs Luxol and Mollie Williams.

2. Khady Soune Sagna had the 2nd most impressive performance of the week where she help led Hibs to a 63-60 win over Loyola this past weekend. Sagna had 31pts, 18reb, 1stl, 2ast FG: 14/20 3PT: 0/1 FT: 3/5. Sagna is becoming a dominating force and a MVP Candidate early with her start but will she have big numbers on an Average Team or will her performance help take Hibs to the top of the league? Time will only tell.

3. Mollie Williams 6'2" F University of Washington (NCAA 1) had the Third most impressive performance this past weekend leading her club to another dominating win 94-39 over Starlites. From all reports Mollie Williams saw very limited minutes in the 2nd half because of the blow out but was still able to 27pts, 8rebs, 5stls, 1ast, 1blk in the win. Early on Mollie Williams is the MVP of the league , the best player on the best team. Williams early on is a dominating force on the inside that is a total team player that will even do the little things to win as her coach would say she does the dirty work. Mollie Williams and Luxol will be looking to make it 3 for 3 in Cups this weekend when they play Brietta Thomas and Loyola for the Shield Championship

4. Brietta Thomas 5'11" G La Tech in a tough loss to Hibs 60-63 had another big day in the scoring totals with 27pts, 10rebs, 3stls , 1ast. Loyola was one of the best teams in the preseason as well as the Shield where they will meet Mollie Williams and Luxol this weekend for the Shield Championship but Loyola has started slowly in the reg season but every team will have their struggles so we expect Loyola behind Brietta Thomas to pick it back up.

Other Notable Performances

5. Greta Zarb (Luxol) 25pts, 8rebs, 4stls, 2ast

6. Steffi De Martino (Depiro) 25pts, 3 rebs, 2stls, 1ast
