Champions Falken Cynergi Virtus obtained a comfortable victory against Floriana Caf Del Mar in the first leg of the Louis Borg Cup Final. Floriana found difficulty to penetrate inside Virtus' well organized defence and on the other hand Virtus had a strong performance in offense led by American Chris Santo (196-F, college: St.Anselm). Floriana took the first lead with points by Anton Axiaq and Chad Patus (203-F-87, college: Belm.Abbey). However, Virtus quickly replied with a 14-0 run with treys by Peter Shoults and Robert Bonnici and 3 baskets by Santo. Floriana stopped them with a Nigel Sultana (191-F-91) triple however David Camilleri (SG) also had a trey for Virtus as they closed the session in front 25-14. In the second period, Virtus continued to increase their advantage with more points by Shoults and Robert Bonnici. For Floriana points came primarily from Patus but Virtys had more treys by Bonnici, Shoults and Jacob Formosa to and at half time they were already 19 points ahead 49-30. In the third session, Floriana did not show any sign of recovery as champions continued to press with more points by Formosa and Shoults. After a triple by Patus for Floriana, Virtus made another 12-0 run led by Santo, together with treys by Camilleri and David Bugeja (180-SG-92) as they increased the advantage 70-41. In the last period, Patus along with Sean Borg scored for Floriana before Camilleri obtained another triple for Virtus. Champions increased their superiority with another 10-0 run as Floriana could only respond by Patus but Virtus were in control of the match as they won 97-59.

Today Athleta obtained their third consecutive win over Marvels Power Plus for a 3-0 victory in the best-of-5 playoff final. Athleta won with a scoreline of 61-38, however Marvels kept toe-to-toe with Athleta in the first half of the game, ending the first session 14-13 and the second session 26-23.
