(9-22) (17-24) (20-16) (29-19)

Champions Falken Cynergi Virtus were heading towards a comfortable victory against Gzira Athleta however an 11-0 run in the last minutes by Athleta kept all anxious till the last seconds. Virtus defense was very strong and at times Athleta found it very difficult to penetrate and cause any damage. Both teams were tied 7-7 after a trey on each side by Shawn Pace and Michael Naudi (193-G/F-80) who scored all Athleta's points in the first quarter. Virtus then went for a strong 15-2 run including a Jacob Formosa trey and points by Chris Santo (196-F, college: St.Anselm) to end these session in front 22-9. Athleta couldn't react in the start of the second period and champions gradually kept increasing their lead as they also had triples from David Camilleri. At half-time champions were leading by 20 points 46-26. Athleta's first sign of reaction came back after the break where they made a short 9-2 run but despite this, the champions were still trailing by 20 points 59-39 as they had more treys by Robert Bonnici and David Bugeja. Athleta reduced the deficit till the end of the quarter 46-62. In the last period, Athleta had a couple of treys from Roderick Vella and Billy Zammit as champions slacked in their defensive game. However, two minutes to the end, Virtus still led by 15 points 75-60. However, all of a sudden Athleta started to press and steal a lot of possessions and scored 11 consecutive points from Naudi, Lee Fisher (198-F-89, college: Chicago St.) and Vella and were now 4 points under.
