Tevin Falzon had a chance to chat with Tevin Falzon (203-F-92), a 23-year old forward from Newton, Mass. He graduated from Sacred Heart in NCAA. From 2009 he is a part of Maltese National Team program. In 2009 he played for the U18 team in the European Championship, helping lead his team to the gold medal in the C Division. During the tournament, he averaged 13.2 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. In 2014 he represented Malta at European Championship for Small Countries in Gibraltar where they reached final. In 4 games his stats were 7.0ppg, 3.8rpg, FGP: 41.2%, 3PT: 11.1%, FT: 78.6%

Earlier this year, you had the opportunity to play against your brother, a freshman at Northwestern. What was that like going up against him on a national Division 1 stage?

It was definitely an unforgettable experience that my family and I will always talk about. I'm so proud of person and player he's become so it was truly amazing to able to share the court he's worked so hard to get on. Unfortunately, they beat us handily and I wasn't yet back to 100% after being injured earlier in the year. Nonetheless, I still am very grateful for that special opportunity and still extremely proud of Aaron.

What was your favorite experience as a teenager playing for the 18 Under Maltese National team?

My favorite experience playing for the Under 18 team was definitely winning the Gold. I don't remember the ins and outs of the game but I remember how special that moment was and how proud we made everyone involved. That whole experience was definitely an amazing time. It was my first time playing in Europe and I loved how they gave me the freedom to show my versatility as a player. I played all 5 positions at one point or another on that team and I think that made me a better player.

What are you most looking forward to playing with the National team this summer?

I'm definitely looking forward to enjoying the experience and going to another country I've never been to before (Moldova), but more importantly I'm looking forward to having another chance to win Gold. The last tournament we played in we finished second which was a great accomplishment, but still hurt because I believe that we had a good enough team to win the whole thing. Therefore, I'm really looking forward to getting another shot at winning gold.

You have demonstrated tremendous versatility in your outstanding four year career at Sacred Heart. What do you think are the strongest parts of your game that you think European coaches are most excited about working with you for next season?

I think my ability to play on the perimeter as well as my ability to also bang on the interior is a rarity and something that will definitely intrigue European coaches. I also believe that my experience playing in Europe and the United States is something that gives me an advantage over many other players who don't have that experience. Specifically I think coaches should be excited about my relentless attack on the glass and my overall offensive skill set.
