EuroBasket 2010, Division C: Moldova - Armenia 64-71

The host of EuroBasket 2010 (Division C) managed to grab the second straight win at this event. Armenia was too strong for Moldova 64-71 win for perfect 2-0 in Preliminary Group A. With this victory Armenia made a huge step forward to Semifinals in Yerevan. On the other side, Moldova faced with the first lost, but also has a chance to advance. Moldova currently has 1-1 score. Amanda Jackson (175-G-85, college: Miami (OH)) was totally the best player in Armenia. She spent 40 minutes on the court collecting 25 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Jackson was the MVP of this meeting. Christina Kepenekian also shined for the winners adding 20 points and 5 boards. Anna Baghdoyan (180-F-84) helped with 10 pts and 6 boards. In Moldova, Irina Crasnoscioc (192-F-81) and Ala Causan (180-F-76) scored 17 points each, while they also combined 16 rebounds. Olga Cazac (190-C-74, agency: Laszlo Vinko Services) had 13 points and 9 boards.
Moldova was a better team in the first half. After ten minutes of play Moldova made 18-17 and in the second period jumped to 39-28 lead. Totally different picture was seen on the court after that. Armenia became the team who dominated and finished Q4 with nice 9-17. That was not all from the hosts, who shined in the last quarter as well (16-26) securing the valuable 64-71 victory.
In the last day of Preliminary Round, Armenia will meet Andorra. Moldova will play against Gibraltar.

The Regular Season in Liga Feminina just ended. An interesting game for USEFS (7-1) which hosted in Chisinau 4th ranked Panthers (1-7). First ranked USEFS had an easy win 64-44. The game was mostly controlled by USEFS. Panthers managed to win third quarter 18-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Liga Feminina Round 9: Politeh-UTM beat ASEM in a derby game - 7 days ago
There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in Liga Feminina. The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Chisinau: Politeh-UTM (#3) and ASEM (#2). ASEM was crushed at home by 17 points 41-58 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Liga Feminina Round 8 of Regular Season - 14 days ago
There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in Liga Feminina. Round 8 in Liga Feminina means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Chisinau where host USEFS (5-1) crushed league's leader ASEM (5-2) 76-47 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of ASEM.
