EuroBasket 2010, Division C: Moldova - Armenia 64-71

The host of EuroBasket 2010 (Division C) managed to grab the second straight win at this event. Armenia was too strong for Moldova 64-71 win for perfect 2-0 in Preliminary Group A. With this victory Armenia made a huge step forward to Semifinals in Yerevan. On the other side, Moldova faced with the first lost, but also has a chance to advance. Moldova currently has 1-1 score. Amanda Jackson (175-G-85, college: Miami (OH)) was totally the best player in Armenia. She spent 40 minutes on the court collecting 25 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Jackson was the MVP of this meeting. Christina Kepenekian also shined for the winners adding 20 points and 5 boards. Anna Baghdoyan (180-F-84) helped with 10 pts and 6 boards. In Moldova, Irina Crasnoscioc (192-F-81) and Ala Causan (180-F-76) scored 17 points each, while they also combined 16 rebounds. Olga Cazac (190-C-74, agency: Laszlo Vinko Services) had 13 points and 9 boards.
Moldova was a better team in the first half. After ten minutes of play Moldova made 18-17 and in the second period jumped to 39-28 lead. Totally different picture was seen on the court after that. Armenia became the team who dominated and finished Q4 with nice 9-17. That was not all from the hosts, who shined in the last quarter as well (16-26) securing the valuable 64-71 victory.
In the last day of Preliminary Round, Armenia will meet Andorra. Moldova will play against Gibraltar.

Liga Feminina is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 5 rounds left. An interesting game for USEFS (3-1) which played road game in Ialoveni against 4th placed Panthers (0-3). Third ranked USEFS had an easy win 79-48. The game without a history. Liga Feminina Round 4: Politeh-UTM hands first defeat to ASEM - 2 months ago
ASEM (3-1) recorded its first loss in Chisinau on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by third ranked Politeh-UTM (2-1) 57-52. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of ASEM. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 20-5. But ASEM won second period 14-8. Liga Feminina Round 2: Politeh-UTM loses to USEFS - 3 months ago
There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in Liga Feminina. Politeh-UTM (1-1) recorded a loss in Chisinau on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by USEFS (1-0) 77-69. Politeh-UTM trailed by 19 points after 3 quarters before a 20-9 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 69-77 at the end of the game.
