EuroBasket 2010, Division C (Third place): Scotland - Moldova 88-67

Scotland was too strong for Moldova in the battle for third place in Yerevan. Scotland celebrated 88-67 victory in this game and third place belongs to them. On the other side, Moldova is No.4. Malta is the top-ranked team at this event, while Armenia is No.2. Gillian Baird (182-F-88) stepped up for Scotland with 28 points and 10 rebounds. Natalie Chaloner (173-F/G-86) also was on fire scoring 22 points and she handed out 5 assists beside that. Erin McGarrachan (182-F-92) helped the winners with 11 points and 7 boards. In Moldova, Irina Crasnoscioc (191-F-81) shined with 20 points, 7 boards and 5 assists. Olga Cazac (188-C-74, agency: Laszlo Vinko Services) and Margarita Schitco (182-F-87) added 18 and 12 points respectively.
Scotland was better team from the beginning. Gillian Baird and her teammates made nice 26-18 lead in the first quarter. They ended Q2 with 17-14 for plus 11 at the half time break. Moldova slightly improved after that, but still was not able to win third period, which also belonged to Scotland (21-19). In the last ten minutes, Scotland outplayed its rival with 24-16 for the final 88-67 victory and third place in Yerevan.

Vieru re-signs at UMMC Ekaterinburg - 3 months ago

UMMC Ekaterinburg (PBL) confirmed in their roster 27-year old Russian international center Natalia Vieru (196-89). She is a dual citizen owning also Moldovan passport. Vieru played there last season. In 17 PBL games she recorded 8.3ppg, 7.4rpg, 1.1apg and 1.5bpg. She also played 18 games in Euroleague where she averaged just 2.3ppg and 2.3rpg. Vieru helped them to win the Euroleague championship. USEFS clinch Premier League title - 6 months ago

USEFS are crowned Premier League champions. They beat Politeh-UTM 88:55 in the second game of the championship series to complete the sweep. USEFS looked dominant from start to finish. They registered a 19:8 lead ten minutes into the game. USEFS accounted for a 42:21 halftime advantage. USEFS nailed 27 points in the third term to clear off for good. ASEM claimed the Bronze medals.
