Moldova trounce San Marino at European Championship for Small Countries - Jul 6, 2012

Moldova will play in the title game at European Championship for Small Countries. They overcame San Marino to book the spot in the championship game. Ivan Cropotov (210-C-88, college: SW Baptist) accounted for 22 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. San Marino will now take on Malta in the consolation final.
Moldova built a 10-point lead after ten minutes 24:14. Moldova boosted the margin to 11 points at halftime 39:28. Moldova maintained the lead throughout the third period. They piled up a 17-point buffer before the final stanza 62:45. Moldova did not slow down for a second and rallied to a confident win at the end. Vladimir Colesnicov (202-F/C-80) accounted for 17 points, while Vladimir Priscepnii (200-F-88) added 16 points and 11 rebounds and Nicolai Coputerco (191-SG-85) had triple-double of 10 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. Andrea Raschi (198-SG-79) answered with 23 points and 13 rebounds for San Marino. Fabio Tentoni (183-G-79) and Enrico Zanotti (195-C-90) finished with 7 points each in the loss.

The most important game in the last round took place in Balti between second ranked UA-BASCO (7-4) and fourth ranked Alfa Basket (6-6) on Sunday night. UA-BASCO was defeated by Alfa Basket in a tough game at home 78-84. The guests trailed by 9 points at the halftime before their 44-29 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game.
