Five teams started 2009/2010- season in Moldova this season. UTM and ASEM won all their games to jump on top of the League. UTM overcame Orhey 61:37 and beat Tiraspol 75:51. In both games the winners looked better than the opponents and truthfully clinched the victories. ASEM won the opener against Sperantsa 98:62 for the first victory. It was an easy and productive start for the winners. In another game Tiraspol outscored Orhey 63:54.

Malta registered the second victory at the U18 European Championship in Division C. They held off Moldova to improve at 2-1 record. Moldova finished their campaign at 1-3 record.

Malta U18 - Moldova U18 58:49
Malta registered the second victory at the U18 European Championship in Division C. They held off Moldova to improve at 2-1 record. Moldova finished their campaign at 1-3 record. The hosts got to a slow start to the game. Moldova gained the lead early and maintained it throughout the opening frame. They ensured a 13:11 advantage at the first intermission. Rebecca Naudi and Stephanie De Martino (-G-93) connected from beyond the arc early in the second stanza to steal the lead for Malta. The hosts enjoyed a 5-point lead late in the half but Moldova capped it with a 9:0 rally to ensure a 30:26 advantage at halftime. Gontari and Ghitu gave Moldova a 5-point cushion early in the second half. Malta needed an 8:2 run to restore a slender 41:40 advantage with ten minutes to go in the game. Rebecca Naudi and Kristie Tonna teamed up for 13 points in the fourth frame to lift Malta to a tough win at the end. Rebecca Naudi and Stephanie De Martino finished with 19 points apiece for Malta. Kristie Tonna added 10 points and 7 boards for the winners. Cristina Gontari responded with 25 points and 17 rebounds for Moldova. Malta will face Monaco for the second overall spot on Saturday.
