EBL Finals 2013: Buducnost got the trophy! - May 17, 2013

Buducnost is the new champion of Erste Basketball League! Actually, its not a big news in Montenegro knowing that the club from Podgorica won all league titles since the independence in 2006 but this time was a bit harder against a solid Sutjeska. Anyway, the third game was not as tied as the games before (67-51) but Dusan Dubljevic 's guys can not regret because they fought bravely against a much more experienced team. The game was decided after the first half when Buducnost got a big lead and burried Sutjeska's hopes to make a surprise in Podgorica. A curiosity of the game played tonight is that nobody scored in double digits for the winners but all players besides Danilo Nikolic (205-C-93) scored at least two points which proves that Buducnost has a deep rotation. The top scorers were Gerald Lee (208-C-87, college: ODU) and Vladimir Mihailovic (193-G-90) with 9 points each. On the other side the situation was the same, but the guests scored less points all together and thats was the main difference. The leading scorer was Radoje Vujosevic (209-C-89, agency: Interperformances) with 8 points.

Cup of Montenegro: A miracle happened- Buducnost DID NOT win it! - Feb 9, 2013

A miracle happened tonight in Montenegro. The powerhouse from Podgorica, Buducnost, the only club that won trophies in all Montenegrin competition since the independence of the small Adriatic country in 2006, lost in the Finals against Sutjeska in Tivat- 64:55 (20:16, 11:20, 12:12, 21:7). Actually, the title of this article should have been different and all the credits go to Sutjeska and its young coach Dusan Dubljevic , but as nobody so far was able to win any trophy in this league besides Buducnost, this makes this achievement even bigger and all 12 Sutjeska's players along with the coaching staff and board members will enter in the history books of Montenegrin basketball.

There is not much to say about the game. It was a hard fought game with good defense and manz mistakes on both sides. Buducnost had a lead after the halftime but it was not a big lead and Sutjeska somehow made it to stay in the game and not let the most experienced team close the game early. After 34 minutes of game Buducnost had +5 but at that moment Sutjeska decided to stop all their attacks and started a run. Buducnost was unable to score and its players became nervous which made Sutjeska's job even easier in the final minutes of the game. Marko Calic (195-G/F-86) was the leading scorer in Sutjeska with 21 points + 11 rebounds. He was assisted by Darko Vujacic (199-G-79) and Nikola Zizic (195-G-94). They scored 13 points each. In Buducnost nobody shined and the only two players that scored in double digits were Nikola Ivanovic (190-PG-94, agency: Beo Basket) (16 points) and Cedomir Vitkovac (201-F-82, agency: Beo Basket) (13 points)

Nikola Zizic was the best scorer of the Tournament with 38 points in two games while the MVP was his teammate Marko Calic.
