Vomero Basket Napoli announced signing of Milka Bjelica (193-F-81) for rest of the season. The 28-year old power forward is coming to Vomero from TEO Vilnius, where she started the current one. Bjelica appeared 9 times for the Lithuanian squad in Euroleague averaging 11.7 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists. Milka Bjelica is not a new face in Italy. Actually, she played for Faenza on season 2008/09 averaging 10.7 points and 8.1 rebounds in 32 games. Her team won the Italian Cup and Bjelica was named Eurobasket.com All-Italian A1 Honorable Mention -09, as well as Eurobasket.com Italian A1 All-Bosmans Team -09. On 2007/08, Milka Bjelica was a member of the Spanish powerhouse Ros Casares Valencia. There, she struggled to get minutes collecting just 3.5 ppg and 3.4 rpg in LFB. Ros Casares was LFB champion and reached Euroleague Quarterfinals. From 2005-2007 Bjelica played for Pasta Ambra Taranto. Her second year with Taranto was great as she averaged 14.5 ppg and 6 rpg for 11 games in EuroCup. In Serie A1, she had 12.5 ppg and 7.4 rpg for 32 games. Before Taranto, Bjelica spent one season with Terra Sarda Alghero. Milka Bjelica is an active member of Montenegrin National Team. In the past, she also played for Yugoslavian U16, U18 and senior NT.

Montenegro earned the second win at the 2013 EuroBasket. They fired past Ukraine in Vannes today to jump at 2-1 record in Group A. Ukraine entered the second period up by three points 19:16. But Montenegro opened the second term on an 11:3 rally to surge ahead. Dubrovina and Olexandra Kurasova (186-F-86) stopped the rot for Ukraine and gave the lead back to the team. But Jelena Dubljevic capped the half with two free throws to ensure a 31:30 lead for Montenegro. Jelena Dubljevic and Snezana Aleksic (173-G-89) took over late in the third term to give the Balkan team a 53:43 advantage. Jovanovic opened a 13-point lead for Montenegro early in the fourth frame. The margin gradually grew at 17-point mark and Montenegro never looked back en route to the victory. Iva Perovanovic (188-C/F-83) finished with 10 points, while Snezana Aleksic added 8 points for the winners. Alina Iagupova (186-G/F-92, agency: LBM Management) responded with 21 points for Ukraine. Olexandra Kurasova had 14 points and 7 rebounds in the loss.

Turkey claimed the second straight win at the EuroBasket 2013. They overcame a slow start to knock down Montenegro for 2-0 record atop of preliminary Group A. Montenegro slipped at 1-1 record. Tugba Palazoglu (171-G-80) and Esmeral Tuncluer (175-G-80) notched 12 points each for the winners. Montenegro opened the game with a 12-0 run. Nevriye Yilmaz (194-C-80) scored the first points for Turkey after 5 minutes of silence, but then Iva Perovanovic (188-C/F-83) increased to 15-2 lead. Canitez scored 5 in a row for 15:7, while Nevriye Yilmaz reduced to 6 points. Dubljevic scored two free throws for 17:9 and Tugba Palazoglu later closed the first period at 21:12. Jelena Skerovic (176-G-80, agency: Josep and Nicolas) scored the first five points for Montenegro in the second frame, but Hollingsworth and Caglar scored for 26:16. Esmeral Tuncluer reduced to 28:20, while the teams later could not score for a decent amount of time. Tugba Palazoglu nailed three to break the silence at 28:23 and then Ivegin closed a 9-0 Turkish run for 29:28 at the halftime. Jovanovic and Jelena Skerovic put Montenegro in front at the start of the second half. But not for long though. Turkey quickly regained the lead and capped the third term on a 12:2 rally to post a 47:38 lead. Tugba Palazoglu stretched the lead to 11 points midway through the fourth frame. Jelena Skerovic pulled the Balkan team within six points 55:61 but Turkey calmly rallied to the victory in the dying seconds. Nevriye Yilmaz accounted for 10 points for the winning side. Jelena Skerovic answered with 16 points and 9 assists for Montenegro. Iva Perovanovic had 17 points and 8 rebounds in the loss.
