Buducnost - Vozdovac 66-70

Round Five of the regional championship was played last weekend. Buducnost failed at home against the Serbian team Vozdovac. It was a 66-70 loss for the Montenegrin squad. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 70-66. Vozdovac dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Buducnost's 32. Milica Ivanovic orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 5 rebounds. Center Jefimija Karakasevic (191-C-89) contributed with 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Vozdovac players scored in double figures. Guard Jasmina Bigovic (174-G-79) answered with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and swingman Nikolina Popovic (184-G/F-84, agency: LBM Management) added 19 points in the effort for Buducnost. Vozdovac (3-2) moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Buducnost at the other side dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. They share it with Mladi Krajisnik. Vozdovac is looking forward to face Radivoj Korac (#5) in Beograd in the next round. Buducnost will play on the road against Vojvodina in Novi Sad and is hoping to win this game. Round Six is scheduled for the next weekend.

Montenegro once again defeated Slovenia, 70-62, in their last warm-up game before the European Championship in Czech. Iva Perovanovic (188-C/F-83) scored 25 points and Angelica Robinson(197-F-87, college: Georgia) added 18. Montenegro opened the game with nine straight points and led 16-4 midway through the first quarter. Montengro defeated Slovenia 72-59 in Podgorica for their second win in pre-European Championship warmups. Milica Jovanovic (189-F/C-89) scored 28 points on shooting 11-of-14 from the field including 6-of-8 behind the 3-point arc. Irena Matovic (186-F-88), Angelica Robinson (197-F-87, college: Georgia) and Kristina Rakovic (186-F/C-94) all aded 10 points. Jelena Dubljevic(191-C-87) will not play at the European Championship for the Montenegrin national team. WNBA champion injured her foot during the warm-up game against Canada and will be sidelined eight weeks. Dubljevic has spent the past three seasons playing in Turkey with Galatasaray and Abdullah Gul University Kayseri.
