Two teams from ex Yugoslavia met last night in Round One of the 2013 EuroBasket Qualifications. Montenegro celebrated comfortable 85-68 victory for 1-0 score in Group B. Participants of this pool are also Switzerland, Poland and Estonia. All of them fight for one of the first two places which lead to EuroBasket in France. Montenegro had great beginning of the game and they shined after the breather as well to secure the victory. Eshaya Murphy (182-G/F-85, college: USC) exploded with 26 points and 15 rebounds in 34 minutes on the court. She reached valuation 37 and was the MVP of this game. Iva Perovanovic (189-C/F-83) also was great adding 20 points and 14 rebs, while Jelena Dubljevic (191-C-87) helped her team with 18 pts, 14 rebs and 7 assists. At the other side, Serbia got 21 points and 8 rebs from Milica Dabovic (175-PG-82). Ana Dabovic (183-G/F-89) and Tamara Radocaj (170-PG-87) (6 rebs) stopped to 15 and 12 points respectively. Quarters: 28-16, 12-15, 24-13, 21-24. Montenegro will meet Poland on Saturday. Serbia will take a rest in Round 2.

Anna De Forge spent the earlier season with Turkish team Pankup Ted Kayseri Kolejspor. She had 8.3 ppg, 3.1 rpg and 1.6 apg in 14 EuroCup games, while Kayseri reached the Finals. In TKBL, De Forge added 10.9 ppg and 4.1 rpg. Before Kayseri, Anna De Forge spent two years with Hondarribia-Irun. She also has experience from Besiktas, Wisla Can-Pak Krakow and WNBA. In 2006, De Forge was named Eurobasket.com All-Polish PLKK Player of The Year -06. She won two Polish league titles with Wisla Can-Pack. Anna De Forge played for the Montenegrin National Team last summer in Poland. She had 13.4 ppg, 4.9 rpg and 2.6 apg for 8 games.

The home side did not loosen the grasp in the third term. They registered a 48:44 advantage into the fourth period. But USK Praha managed to force overtime knotting things up at 64. The teams were tied at 73 midway through the extra period. But Rebekkah Brunson stepped up for the visitors making it 77:73. Kia Vaughn then followed with a three-point play sealing the victory for USK Praha. Kia Vaughn chipped in 15 points, while Michaela Zrustova finished with 10 points for the visitors. Jelena Skerovic collected 8 points,6 rebounds 5 steals and 4 assists. Nicole Ohlde responded with 17 points for IMOS Brno. Farhiya Abdi and Tereza Peckova had 13 points each for the home team.

She is a dual citizen owning also Puerto Rican passport. Murphy started the season at Galatasaray in Turkish TKBL. In 5 Euroleague games she had just 2.2ppg, 1.6rpg, 1.6apg and 1.0spg this season. The most of last summer she spent at Chicago in WNBA. In 29 games she recorded 8.5ppg, 2.9rpg and 1.1spg. Murphy also spent pre-season at Piratas (BSNF) in Puerto Rican league earlier that year. In 2007 she was drafted by Minnesota Lynx (WNBA) in second round (15th overall). The former University of Southern California star is in her sixth season in pro basketball. The list of the past achievements is quite long as Murphy won Spanish LFB championship title in 2012. She was also voted Eurobasket.com All-Spanish LFB Guard of the Year in 2009 and 2011. Murphy represented Montenegro at the Qualifications to European Championships 2013 last year. Her stats at that event were 4 games: 13.0ppg, 6.5rpg, 1.8apg, 1.8spg, FGP: 60.0%, FT: 76.9%. Murphy is quite experienced player. She has played also professionally in Greece, Russia (Dynamo Kursk), WNBA (Indiana Fever and Washington Mystics), Spain (Ros Casares, San Jose and Joventud Mariana) and Puerto Rico (Tigres).
