We bring you last week's top performances from Montenegrins who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.


Snezana Aleksic

   #1. This week's number one is an international guard Snezana Aleksic (173-89, currently plays in Russia). She contributed to a Dynamo Moscow's victory against the sixth-ranked Vologda-Chevakata (0-1) 69-61 in the Russian PBL in Monday night's game. Aleksic recorded 10 points in 33 minutes on the court. It was his first game for Dynamo Moscow this season. Her team is placed second in the PBL. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Aleksic played for the Montenegrin senior national team years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an international power forward Iva Perovanovic (188-83, currently plays in Russia). She helped Nadezhda Orenburg win their game against the seventh-ranked Dynamo-GUVD (0-1) 66-61 in the Russian PBL last Thursday. Perovanovic recorded 6 points. It was his first game for Nadezhda Orenburg this season. Her team is placed third in the PBL. But the season just started, so everything may happen. Perovanovic played for the Montenegrin national team in 2012.

   #3. The Montenegrin player who performed third best last week abroad was former international center Milica Cvetanovic (195-86, currently plays in Poland). She helped Energa Torun win their game against one of league's weakest teams AZS Rzeszow (0-4) crushing them 69-48 in the Polish PLKK on Saturday night. Cvetanovic recorded 9 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in only 12 minutes. Energa Torun (3-1) is placed fifth in the PLKK. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. It's Cvetanovic's first year with the team. This season she averages: 7.5ppg, 2.8rpg, 1.8spg, 2FGP: 61.9%(13-21) and FT: 66.7% in the four games she played so far. Cvetanovic played for the Montenegrin national team five years ago.

   #4. Point guard Mirjana Beronja (170-86, currently plays in Adriatic League) led her Serbian team Radivoj Korac to a victory over the 11th-ranked Ilrija (0-4) crushing them 65-39 in the Adriatic League in Saturday night's game. She was MVP of the game. Beronja recorded 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Radivoj Korac Beograd (4-0) is placed third in group T. So far her team won all four games in the Regular Season. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. It's Beronja's first season with the team. She has relatively good stats this year: 10.5ppg, 2.5rpg, 3.0apg and 1.5spg. Beronja used to play for the Montenegrin national team back in 2007.

   #5. International power forward Kristina Rakovic (182-94, currently plays in Adriatic League) helped her Bosnia and Herzegovina team Mladi Krajisnik win their game against the bottom-ranked Sloboda (0-4) crushing them 75-50 in the Adriatic League last Saturday. She recorded 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 22 minutes. Mladi Krajisnik Banja Luka (2-1) is placed fifth in group T. . This year Rakovic's overall stats are: 6.0ppg, 5.0rpg and 2.0spg in the three games. She plays currently for the Montenegrin national team.

   #6. Power forward Sanja Knezevic (188-84, currently plays in Romania), who plays in the Romanian Division A could not help Sp.Studentesc (1-4) in their last game on Monday. Despite Knezevic's very good performance Sp.Studentesc was badly defeated 107-90 on the road by the second-ranked Satu Mare. She was the top scorer with 19 points. . Knezevic's total stats this season are: 7.0ppg, 2.4rpg and 1.2apg. She is international player as she played for the Montenegrin senior team years ago.

   #7. Former U16 international center Milica Radonjic (185-93, currently plays in Serbia) managed to help ZKK Vrbas Medela in a victory against the 12th-ranked Stara Pazova (0-3) 84-70 in the Serbian A League in Saturday night's game. Radonjic scored 5 points in 12 minutes. ZKK Vrbas Medela (2-1) is placed fifth in the A League. . This year Radonjic's total stats are: 5.7ppg and 4.3rpg in the three games. She used to play for the Montenegrin U16 national team four years ago.

   #8. Center Natasa Popovic (194-82, currently plays in Russia) was not able to help Spartak Noginsk (0-1) in their game against Dynamo Kursk (1-0) in the Russian PBL. Popovic cannot count Tuesday's game as one of the best ones. She recorded only 2 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks. It was his first game for Spartak Noginsk this season. The bottom-ranked Spartak Noginsk was defeated 58-45 in Kursk by the leading Dynamo. . Popovic is currently second on the list of best blockers. She used to play for the Montenegrin national team earlier this year.

   #9. International power forward Neda Nikolic (181-91, currently plays in Serbia) faced previously mentioned Milica Radonjic in the Serbian A League last game. Nikolic was not able to secure a victory for Stara Pazova (17-9) in their game against Vrbas Medela (2-1). She scored 7 points in only 13 minutes. Stara Pazova lost 70-84 in Vrbas to the lower-ranked (#5) Medela. . Nikolic belongs to league's top scorers and is ranked #4 with 4.5ppg. This year her other stats are: 2.0rpg in the two games. Nikolic is also in the roster of the Montenegrin national team.

   #10. An experienced guard Jasmina Bigovic (174-79, currently plays in Russia) is a teammate of previously mentioned Natasa Popovic and both played together in the last Russian PBL game. Bigovic couldn't help Spartak Noginsk (0-1) in their game against Dynamo Kursk (1-0). She cannot count Tuesday's game as one of the best ones. Bigovic recorded only 2 points. It was his first game for Spartak Noginsk this season. The bottom-ranked Spartak Noginsk was defeated 58-45 in Kursk by the leading Dynamo. Bigovic is international player as years ago she still played for the Montenegrin senior national team.

Lovcen Cetinje (1A ZCKL) added to their roster 20-year old power forward Vanja Mudresa (182-96). It is actually her comeback to Cetinje as she has played here before. Mudresa was about to sign at Buducnost in the 1A ZCKL. She has played there for the last four years. The last season Mudresa played also at Buducnost. Kristina Topuzovic (ex Radivoj Korac) signs at Buducnost - 24 days ago

ZKK Buducnost Bemax (1A ZCKL) landed 22-year old Serbian international swingman Kristina Topuzovic (183-94, agency: BeoBasket). She has played for the last five years at Radivoj Korac in Serbian 1 ZLS, but left the team in Dec.'15. In 9 games she averaged 11.9ppg, 7.3rpg, 2.8apg and 1.2spg last season. Topuzovic won Serbian League championship title for two years in a row (2014 and 2015) and made it to the cup final in 2012, 2013 and 2015. Besiktas CT Istanbul (KBSL) agreed terms with 33-year old Montenegrin international power forward Iva Perovanovic (188-83). It is actually her comeback to Istanbul as she has played here before. Perovanovic will still stay in Turkey as she played last season at Canik Belediyesi Samsun in Turkish KBSL.
