Jelena Skerovic selected the top Montenegrin playing abroad in last week's games - Nov 3, 2012

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Montenegrin players, who play currently abroad.


Jelena Skerovic

   #1. This week's number one is an international guard Jelena Skerovic (176-80, agency: Josep and Nicolas, currently plays in Euroleague), who plays in Czech Republic. She could not help USK Praha (0-2) to beat Galatasaray (2-0). Skerovic was the second best scorer with 9 points. She also added 5 rebounds and dished 10 assists in 36 minutes on the court. But the seventh-placed USK Praha was edged 58-56 on the road by the leading Galatasaray in the group C of Euroleague. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. It's Skerovic's first year with the team. Skerovic belongs to league's best passers and is ranked #3 with 6.5apg. She also averaged so far 6.5ppg, 5.0rpg, 1.5spg, 3FGP: 14.3% and FT: 66.7% in the two games she played so far. Skerovic is currently a member of the Montenegrin senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international center Jelena Dubljevic (191-87, currently plays in Czech Republic) is a teammate of previously mentioned Jelena Skerovic. But that was another game of her team in Czech Republic ZBL which we would like to mention. Dubljevic led USK Praha to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Kara Trutnov (6-2) crushing them 83-53. She scored 12 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. ZVVZ USK Praha (8-0) is placed first in the ZBL. So far her team won all eight games in the Regular Season. It's Dubljevic's first season with the team. Dubljevic has relatively good stats this year: 12.5ppg, 7.1rpg, 2.3apg, 2FGP: 64.2%(34-53), 3FGP: 28.6% and FT: 92.9%(26-28). She is in the roster of the Montenegrin senior national team.

   #3. The Montenegrin player who performed third best last week abroad was an international power forward Iva Perovanovic (188-83, currently plays in Euroleague). Perovanovic was not able to help Nadezhda Orenburg (1-1) in their game against Familia Schio (2-0) in the Euroleague. She scored 5 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 22 minutes. Nadezhda Orenburg (#4) lost 64-72 in Schio to the leading Familia in the group B of Euroleague. But the season just started, so everything may happen. This year Perovanovic averages: 8.0ppg, 5.5rpg, 2FGP: 66.7% and FT: 66.7% in the two games. She is also a member of the Montenegrin senior national team.

   #4. Swingman Ana Dabovic (183-89, currently plays in Eurocup) led her Turkish team TED Ankara to a victory over the closely-ranked Young Cats (1-1) 80-69 in the Eurocup in Wednesday night's game. Dabovic was MVP of the game. She scored 19 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. TED Ankara Kolejliler (1-1) is placed second in group B. There are only four games left until the end of the Eurocup Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Dabovic is currently fourth on the league's list of top scorers. She has individually a very good season with high stats. Dabovic averages: 20.5ppg and 4.0rpg. She used to play for the Montenegrin U18 national team back in 2007.

   #5. International guard Snezana Aleksic (173-89, currently plays in Eurocup) was not able to secure a victory for Dynamo Moscow (1-1) in their game against Basket Landes (1-1) in the Eurocup. Aleksic scored 5 points and added 3 passes in 36 minutes. Dynamo Moscow (#3) lost 73-79 in Mont de Marsan to the second-ranked Basket Landes in the group G of Eurocup. There are only four games left until the end of the Eurocup Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. This year Aleksic's overall stats are: 6.5ppg, 4.5rpg, 2.5apg and 1.5spg in the two games. She plays currently for the Montenegrin national team.

   #6. An experienced shooting guard Anna De Forge (178-76, also represented by Josep and Nicolas, college: Nebraska, currently plays in Euroleague) is a teammate of previously mentioned Jelena Skerovic and both played together in the last Euroleague game. De Forge couldn't help USK Praha (0-2) in their game against Galatasaray (2-0). She cannot count it as her best performance. De Forge scored only 3 points in 6 minutes on the court. USK Praha (#7) was edged 58-56 in Istanbul by the leading Galatasaray in the group C of Euroleague. This year De Forge's total stats are: 5.0ppg and 2.0rpg in the two games. She is a naturalized American. De Forge is international player as she played for the Montenegrin senior team one years ago. Strangely she has never played in Montenegro.

   #7. International forward Milka Bjelica (193-81, agency: LBM Management, currently plays in Euroleague) couldn't help CSM Targoviste (0-2) in their game against Fenerbahce (1-0) in the Euroleague. Bjelica scored only 4 points. It was his first game for CSM Targoviste this season. CSM Targoviste (#7) was crushed 73-48 in Istanbul by the second-ranked Fenerbahce in the group B of Euroleague. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. Bjelica used to play for the Montenegrin national team last year.

   #8. Center Natasa Popovic (194-82, currently plays in Eurocup) couldn't help Spartak Noginsk (1-1) in their game against Tarbes (2-0) in the Eurocup. She scored 6 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 36 minutes. Spartak Noginsk (#3) was crushed 71-42 on the opponent's court by the leading Tarbes in the group C of Eurocup. Popovic belongs to league's best blockers and is ranked #2 with 2.0bpg. This year her other stats are: 6.0ppg and 7.0rpg in the two games. Popovic plays currently for the Montenegrin national team.

   #9. International power forward Kristina Rakovic (182-94, currently plays in Adriatic League) was the main contributor in a Mladi Krajisnik's victory against the ninth-ranked Athlete Celje (1-5) 65-57 in the Adriatic League in Saturday night's game. She was the best player in that game. Rakovic scored 17 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Mladi Krajisnik Banja Luka (3-2) is placed sixth in group T. Rakovic has averaged so far 7.8ppg, 4.8rpg and 1.2spg. She used to play for the Montenegrin national team last year.

   #10. Power forward Milica Jovanovic (189-89, currently plays in Turkey), who plays in the Turkish TKBL couldn't help Besiktas (2-1) in their last game. Despite Jovanovic's good performance Besiktas was crushed 89-53 in Adana by the lower-ranked (#6) Ceyhan Bld. She was the second best scorer with 12 points in 30 minutes. It was his first game for Besiktas this season. Jovanovic is an international player who is currently on the senior Montenegrin National Team roster.

   #11. International guard Jasmina Bigovic (174-79, currently plays in Eurocup) is a teammate of previously mentioned Natasa Popovic and both played together in the last Eurocup game. Bigovic couldn't help Spartak Noginsk in their game against Tarbes. She cannot count Wednesday's game as one of the best ones. Bigovic scored only 2 points. Her team was crushed by 29 points 71-42. Bigovic has averaged so far 1.0ppg, 1.5apg and 2.5spg. She plays currently for the Montenegrin national team.

   #12. International forward Milica Milosev (185-93, currently plays in Adriatic League) couldn't help ZKK Vrsac in their game against Sloboda in the Adriatic League. Milosev scored 5 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 26 minutes. Her team lost 65-70. Milosev has averaged so far 6.8ppg, 2.5rpg and 2.0apg in the four games. She is also in the roster of the Montenegrin national team.

   #13. International power forward Sanja Knezevic (188-84, currently plays in Romania) couldn't help Sp.Studentesc in their game against Brasov in the Romanian Division A. Knezevic recorded 6 points. Her team was crushed by 21 points 71-50. Knezevic has averaged so far 6.7ppg and 2.7rpg. She is also Montenegrin national team player.

   #14. International power forward Neda Nikolic (181-91, currently plays in Serbia) managed to help ZKK Stara Pazova in a victory against the ninth-ranked Sumadija KG crushing them 90-64 in the Serbian A League on Saturday night. Nikolic scored only 4 points in 7 minutes on the court. Nikolic has averaged so far 4.3ppg and 1.8rpg in the four games. She used to play for the Montenegrin national team last year.

   #15. International center Ana Turcinovic (190-93, currently plays in Eurocup) contributed to a Elitzur Ramla's victory against the fourth-ranked MBK Ruzomberok 77-70 in the Eurocup in Thursday night's game. Turcinovic scored only 2 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. This season Turcinovic has relatively solid stats: 10.5ppg, 7.0rpg and 1.5spg. She is also in the roster of the Montenegrin national team.


One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Montenegrin passport:

   #1. Mirjana Beronja (170-PG-86, currently plays in Adriatic League), who plays in Serbia could not help Radivoj Korac (5-1) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Beronja's good performance Radivoj Korac (#2) was defeated 78-74 in a derby game by the leading Partizan in the group T of Adriatic League. She scored 10 points and had 4 steals. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. Beronja's total stats this season are: 9.5ppg, 1.8rpg, 2.5apg and 2.0spg.

Kazanochka signs Jelena Vucetic - 14 minutes ago

Kazanochka Kazan (PBL) signed 23-year old Montenegrin ex-international guard Jelena Vucetic (178-93). She played last season at PINKK-Pecsi in Hungarian A Division. In 15 games she had 10.1ppg, 3.9rpg and 1.9apg. Vucetic helped them to make it to the semifinals. She also played 5 games in Eurocup where she recorded 6.2ppg, 3.4rpg and 1.2apg. Tamara Kapor returns to Buducnost - 1 month ago

MRZKL champion Buducnost announced the signing of Bosnian guard Tamara Kapor (184-G-91) for next season. Actually it will be her come back to Podgorica as she played there last season. In two games she had 9.5ppg and 2.0rpg and won the MZRKL title with Buducnost. She started the season in Celik andafter Buducnost Kapor played briefly for Banovici in Bosnian Superleague. Natasa Popovic (ex Celik) signs at Reims - 1 month ago

Reims Basket Feminin (LF2) landed 34-year old Montenegrin ex-international center Natasa Popovic (192-82). She has played for the last two years at Celik in Bosnia and Herzegovina Division II. In 13 MZRKL games she averaged 11.3ppg, 12.5rpg (leader !!!), 2.2apg and 3.1bpg last season. It was a very successful year in her career as she was selected to Eurobasket.com All-MZRKL 1st Team and All-Defensive Team.
