Here is the weekly review of the top performing Montenegrin players, who play currently abroad.


Nikola Vucevic

   #1. This week's number one is an international center Nikola Vucevic (210-90, college: USC, currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA. Vucevic could not help the Orlando Magic (14-31) in their last game on Thursday. Despite his very good performance the Orlando Magic was edged 97-95 on the road by the Toronto Raptors. Vucevic recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 14 rebounds. He also added 3 blocks. Vucevic belongs to league's best rebounders and is ranked #6. He has individually a very good season with high stats. Vucevic averages: 11.9ppg, 11.2rpg, 1.6apg, 1.2bpg, 2FGP: 52.8% and FT: 67.2%. He is currently a member of the Montenegrin senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international center Nikola Pekovic (209-86, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA. Pekovic was not able to help the Minnesota Timberwolves (17-25) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the Minnesota Timberwolves lost 90-96 in Los Angeles to the Clippers. Pekovic had a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 12 rebounds in 37 minutes. It was Timberwolves' fifth consecutive loss in a row. Pekovic has very impressive stats this year: 16.0ppg, 8.7rpg, 2FGP: 51.1% and FT: 74.2% in the 35 games he played so far. He is in the roster of the Montenegrin senior national team.

   #3. The Montenegrin player who performed third best last week abroad was an international power forward Vladimir Dragicevic (206-86, currently plays in Eurocup). Dragicevic was the major contributor in a Spartak St.Petersburg's victory against the closely-ranked Stelmet ZG (1-3) crushing them 81-54 in the Eurocup in Wednesday night's game. He recorded 14 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Spartak St.Petersburg (3-1) is placed second in group K. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Eurocup Top 16. So now every game will be critical. Dragicevic has relatively good stats this season: 10.6ppg, 4.7rpg and FT: 84.6%. He is also a member of the Montenegrin senior national team.

Power forward Milko Bjelica (205-84, also represented by Beo Basket, currently plays in Spain) led Caja Laboral to a victory against the 13th-ranked Cajasol (7-12) 86-82 in the Spanish ACB last Saturday. Bjelica recorded 11 points in a mere 16 minutes. Caja Laboral Vitoria (16-3) is placed second in the ACB. It was his team's ninth consecutive victory in a row. This year Bjelica's overall stats are: 5.2ppg and 2.5rpg in the 17 games. He has a dual citizenship: Serbian and Montenegrin. Bjelica is also Montenegrin national team player.

Former U21 international center Milovan Savic (205-87, currently plays in Serbia) led Konstantin to a victory over the closely-ranked Borac (8-10) 75-68 in the Serbian A League in Wednesday night's game. Savic was MVP of the game. He scored 17 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. KK Konstantin Nis (10-8) is placed fifth in the A League. It's Savic's first season with the team. Savic's total stats this year are: 9.8ppg and 4.1rpg. He is another player who holds two passports: Montenegrin and Serbian. Savic used to play for the Montenegrin U21 national team six years ago.

An experienced forward Ivan Ivanovic (205-80, another player represented by Beo Basket, currently plays in Romania) was the main contributor in a Gaz Metan's victory against the closely-ranked CSM Bucuresti (12-7) 85-67 in the Romanian Liga Nationala last Saturday. He was the best player in that game. Ivanovic recorded 17 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals in 26 minutes. CS Gaz Metan Medias (11-8) is placed eighth in the Liga Nationala. This year Ivanovic has relatively solid stats: 13.4ppg, 5.7rpg and 1.9apg in the 19 games. He is a former international player as he played for the Montenegrin senior team five years ago.

International point guard Omar-Sharif Cook (188-82, another player represented by Beo Basket, college: St.John's, currently plays in Euroleague) is a teammate of previously mentioned Milko Bjelica. But that was another game of his team in Euroleague which we would like to mention. Cook was not able to secure a victory for Caja Laboral (4-1) in their game against Regal FC Barcelona (5-1). He scored 6 points. The third-placed Caja Laboral was defeated 90-79 at home by the leading Regal FC Barcelona in the group F of Euroleague. Cook's total stats this season are: 3.2ppg, 1.4rpg and 2.6apg. He is a naturalized American. Cook is also Montenegrin national team player. Strangely he has never played in Montenegro.

Power forward Nemanja Radovic (206-91, another player represented by Beo Basket, currently plays in Serbia) contributed to Vrsac's victory against the 12th-ranked Smederevo Vizura (6-12) 72-65 in the Serbian A League on Wednesday night. Radovic was the top player that evening. He had a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 11 rebounds. Radovic also added 3 blocks in 32 minutes. KK Vrsac (9-9) is placed sixth in the A League. They ended the series of four consecutive loses. Radovic is currently fourth on the list of top scorers and also on the list of best rebounders (second place). He has very impressive stats this year: 15.7ppg, 8.9rpg and 1.1bpg in the 18 games. Radovic used to play for the Montenegrin U20 national team back in 2011.

International shooting guard Bojan Bakic (195-83, currently plays in Serbia) contributed to Metalac's victory against the ninth-ranked OKK Beograd (8-10) 77-71 in the Serbian A League in Wednesday night's game. He scored 14 points. Vujic Metalac Valjevo (12-6) is placed third in the A League. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Bakic has reliable stats this season: 14.9ppg, 3.1rpg and 2.0apg. He is also in the roster of the Montenegrin national team.

   #10. Swingman Sead Sehovic (196-89, currently plays in Adriatic League) contributed to Szolnok's victory against the tenth-ranked KK Split (7-12) 70-62 in the Adriatic League last Saturday. Sehovic recorded 7 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals in 28 minutes. Szolnoki Olajbanyasz (5-14) is located at the very bottom in the Adriatic League. But the situation may improve as they ended a series of four consecutive loses. Sehovic averaged so far 12.0ppg, 4.7rpg and 2.2apg in the 15 games. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Montenegrin National Team roster.

   #11. International center Blagota Sekulic (209-82, agency: FCM, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish ACB couldn't help CB Canarias (7-12) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Sekulic's good performance CB Canarias was defeated 81-67 in Zaragoza by the much higher-ranked CAI Zaragoza (#7). He was the second best scorer with 12 points. Sekulic also added 8 rebounds. Sekulic's total stats this season are: 8.3ppg and 5.0rpg. He plays currently for the Montenegrin national team.

   #12. Former U20 international guard Milorad Sutulovic (196-90, currently plays in Serbia), who plays in the Serbian A League couldn't help OKK Beograd (8-10) in their last game. Despite Sutulovic's very good performance OKK Beograd lost 68-83 in Uzice to the higher-ranked (#4) Sloboda. He scored 15 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 29 minutes. Sutulovic averaged so far 11.1ppg, 3.1rpg and 1.2apg in the 17 games. He used to play for the Montenegrin U20 national team back in 2010.

   #13. Former U20 international power forward Nemanja Milosevic (204-87, agency: Interperformances, college: W.Kentucky, currently plays in Bulgaria), who plays in the Bulgarian NBL couldn't help Tundja Yambol (7-7) in their last game on Friday. Despite Milosevic's very good performance Tundja Yambol was crushed 100-69 on their home court in Yambol by the leading Lukoil Academik. He was the second best scorer with 15 points. Milosevic also added 9 rebounds. Milosevic is currently third on the league's list of best rebounders. This season he has very high stats. Milosevic averages: 15.3ppg and 9.2rpg. He used to play for the Montenegrin U20 national team five years ago.

   #14. Former U20 international power forward Filip Barovic (208-90, currently plays in Hungary) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked PVSK Pannon 80-61 in the Hungarian A Division on Saturday night. Barovic scored 12 points, had 8 boards, dished 3 assists and stole 3 balls in 29 minutes. Barovic belongs to league's best rebounders (ranked #4) and also on the list of best blockers (second place). He has very impressive stats this year: 17.1ppg, 8.2rpg, 1.5apg, 1.1bpg and 1.3spg in the 18 games. Barovic used to play for the Montenegrin U20 national team back in 2010.

   #15. Former international swingman Sasha Pavlovic (200-83, currently plays in NBA) managed to help Portland Trail Blazers to win against the Dallas Mavericks 106-104 in the NBA in Tuesday night's game. He scored only 4 points. Pavlovic's total stats this season are: 2.2ppg and 1.4rpg. He used to play for the Montenegrin national team five years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Montenegrin passport but never been selected to any of Montenegrin national teams:

   #1. Nikola Mirotic (207-F/C-91, currently plays in Spain) was the major contributor in a Real Madrid's victory against the 15th-ranked Blancos de Rueda (7-12) 87-75 in the Spanish ACB in Sunday night's game. He recorded 16 points and grabbed 6 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) in a mere 18 minutes. Real Madrid (18-1) is placed first in the ACB. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Mirotic has relatively good stats this year: 13.0ppg and 5.2rpg in the 19 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Montenegrin and Spanish. Despite Mirotic's Montenegrin passport, he previously played for the Spanish U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Montenegrin team.

   #2. Radomir Marojevic (207-C-81, currently plays in Serbia) led Vojvodina to a victory over the 11th-ranked BKK Radnicki (6-12) 82-74 in the Serbian A League on Wednesday night. He was MVP of the game. Marojevic scored 18 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. KK Vojvodina Novi Sad (14-4) is placed second in the A League. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Marojevic's first season with the team. His total stats this year are: 9.1ppg and 3.2rpg.

   #3. Petar Despotovic (194-G-88, agency: Alti Sport, currently plays in Serbia) was the main contributor in Konstantin's victory against one of league's weakest teams Vrsac 71-61 in the Serbian A League in Saturday night's game. Despotovic was MVP of the game. He scored 17 points, grabbed 4 boards, passed 5 assists and added 4 steals in 32 minutes. KK Konstantin Nis (10-8) is placed fifth in the A League. This year Despotovic has relatively solid stats: 10.6ppg, 3.6rpg, 2.9apg and 1.5spg in the 18 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Montenegrin and Serbian. Despite Despotovic's Montenegrin nationality, he previously played for the Serbian university national team and probably cannot be called to the Montenegrin team.

   #4. Experienced Branko Cuic (197-G-78, currently plays in Romania) contributed to an easy victory against the 13th-ranked Timba Timosoara (5-14) crushing them 98-71 in the Romanian Liga Nationala last Saturday. Cuic was MVP of the game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 12 rebounds. Cuic also added 7 assists. BC Mures Targu-Mures (14-5) is placed second in the Liga Nationala. Cuic belongs to league's best passers and is ranked #4. He has very reliable stats this season: 13.7ppg, 6.6rpg and 5.6apg.

   #5. Mensud Julevic (200-PF-85, currently plays in Slovenia) contributed to Elektra's victory against the closely-ranked Grosuplje (2-11) 77-71 in the Slovenian Telemach League on Saturday night. Julevic was MVP of the game. He recorded 19 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists in 35 minutes. KK Elektra Sostanj (7-6) is placed sixth in the Telemach League. This year Julevic has relatively solid stats: 13.4ppg, 5.7rpg and 2.2apg in the 12 games. He has both Montenegrin and Slovenian nationalities. Despite Julevic's Montenegrin passport, he previously played for the Slovenian U21 national team.

   #6. Bojan Subotic (203-F-90, currently plays in Adriatic League) contributed to an easy victory against the seventh-ranked MZT Skopje 87-72 in the Adriatic League in Sunday night's game. Subotic recorded 8 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 19 minutes. This year Subotic's total stats are: 4.3ppg and 2.1rpg in the 17 games.

   #7. Miljan Pavkovic (178-G-81, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in Czech Republic) contributed to a CEZ Nymburk's victory against the closely-ranked BK Prostejov 81-71 in the Czech Republic NBL last Friday. He scored 12 points. Pavkovic is currently seventh on the league's list of best passers. His total stats this season are: 5.3ppg, 2.3rpg, 4.0apg and 1.1spg.

   #8. Dusan Djordjevic (195-G-83, also represented by Beo Basket, currently plays in Belgium) helped Base Oostende win their game against the closely-ranked Okapi Aalstar 73-63 in the Belgian Ethias League last Friday. Djordjevic scored 7 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 25 minutes. Djordjevic is currently fourth on the list of best passers with 4.8apg. This year he also averages: 8.5ppg and 3.3rpg in the 13 games. Djordjevic also holds two passports: Serbian and Montenegrin.

   #9. Nikola Dragovic (206-F-87, college: UCLA, currently plays in Italy), who plays in the Italian SerieA could not help Air Avellino (4-13) in their last game. Despite his good performance Air Avellino was edged in an overtime 83-82 on the road by the leading Cimberio Varese. Dragovic scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 25 minutes. This year his total stats are: 9.9ppg, 5.2rpg and 1.4spg in the 17 games. Dragovic has dual citizenship: Serbian and Montenegrin. Despite his Montenegrin passport, Dragovic previously played for the Serbian university national team.

   #10. Dragomir Marojevic (207-C-81, agency: Global Sports Plaza, currently plays in Serbia) helped Metalac win their game against the eighth-ranked Borac crushing them 76-56 in the Serbian A League in Saturday night's game. He scored 6 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Marojevic's total stats this season are: 3.4ppg and 2.9rpg.

Everything is known in Erste Basketball League and everybody are waiting for the play offs so the Round 26 did not bring much excitement as the previous round. Ibar finally got a win after few defeats and this time against Studentski centar at home (93-83). Post players Nikola Rondovic(207-PF-91, agency: Interperformances) (24 points) and Marko Ljujic (207-C-90) (21 points) played well for the winners while Marko Koljevic had another scoring night and had 24 points for the guests.
