Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Montenegrins who are currently playing abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international center Nikola Pekovic (209-86, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA. He could not help the Minnesota Timberwolves (20-35) in their last game. Despite Pekovic's very good performance the Minnesota Timberwolves were edged in an overtime 84-83 on the road by the Phoenix Suns. He had a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 12 rebounds. Pekovic also added 3 blocks and 3 steals (went 6 for 6 at the free throw line) in 40 minutes on the court. It was Timberwolves' fourth consecutive loss in a row. Pekovic has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 15.9ppg, 8.8rpg, 2FGP: 50.9% and FT: 73.4% in the 48 games he played so far. Pekovic is currently a member of the Montenegrin senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international power forward Vladimir Dragicevic (206-86, currently plays in Russia). He led Spartak St.Petersburg to a victory over the eighth-ranked BC Nizhny Novgorod (4-9) 86-68 in the Russian PBL last Sunday. Dragicevic was MVP of the game. He scored 26 points (!!!) and grabbed 7 rebounds. Spartak St.Petersburg (8-6) is placed third in the PBL. They ended the series of three consecutive loses. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Dragicevic's overall stats this season are: 8.2ppg, 3.6rpg, 2FGP: 58.8%(40-68). He is in the roster of the Montenegrin senior national team.

   #3. The Montenegrin player who performed third best last week abroad was an international center Nikola Vucevic (210-90, college: USC, currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA. Vucevic was not able to help the Orlando Magic (16-43) in their last game on Friday. Despite his very good performance the Orlando Magic was defeated 118-110 in Houston by the Rockets. Vucevic recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added and 3 steals. Vucevic is currently seventh on the list of best rebounders. This season he has very high stats. Vucevic averages: 12.2ppg, 11.3rpg, 1.7apg, 2FGP: 52.4% and FT: 67.0%. He is also a member of the Montenegrin senior national team.

   #4. Power forward Milko Bjelica (205-84, also represented by Beo Basket, currently plays in Spain) contributed to a Caja Laboral's victory against the sixth-ranked G.Canaria 2014 (13-9) 85-74 in the Spanish ACB last Sunday. Bjelica recorded 10 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 20 minutes. Caja Laboral Vitoria (18-4) is placed second in the ACB. This year Bjelica's overall stats are: 5.4ppg and 2.6rpg in the 20 games. He has a dual citizenship: Serbian and Montenegrin. Bjelica is also Montenegrin national team player.

Former U21 international center Maksim Sturanovic (209-88, another player represented by Beo Basket, currently plays in Serbia) was the main contributor in a Radnicki Basket's victory against the closely-ranked Tamis (10-12) 68-55 in the Serbian A League on Tuesday night. He was the best player in that game. Sturanovic recorded 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks. Radnicki Basket Beograd (12-10) is placed sixth in the A League. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. It's Sturanovic's first season with the team. Sturanovic is ranked first on the list of the best blockers in the league. His total stats this season are: 9.3ppg, 4.8rpg and 1.6bpg. Sturanovic used to play for the Montenegrin U21 national team six years ago.

Swingman Sead Sehovic (196-89, currently plays in Adriatic League) helped his Hungarian team Szolnok win their game against the seventh-ranked Cedevita (12-10) 64-59 in the Adriatic League last Saturday. He recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 10 rebounds. Sehovic also added 5 assists. Szolnoki Olajbanyasz (7-15) is placed second from the bottom (#13) in the Adriatic League. There are only four games left until the end of the Adriatic League Regular Season. So now every game will be important. Sehovic has relatively good stats this season: 12.3ppg, 4.8rpg and 2.3apg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Montenegrin National Team roster.

Former U20 international power forward Nemanja Milosevic (204-87, agency: Interperformances, college: W.Kentucky, currently plays in Bulgaria) helped Tundja Yambol win their game against the closely-ranked Euroins Cherno More (7-11) 84-71 in the Bulgarian NBL on Friday night. Milosevic was the top player that evening. He had a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 11 rebounds in 28 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Milosevic's third season in pro basketball. Tundja Yambol (10-8) is placed fifth in the NBL. Milosevic belongs to league's top scorers (ranked #9) and also on the list of best rebounders (fourth place). He has very impressive stats this year: 15.9ppg and 9.1rpg in the 13 games. Milosevic used to play for the Montenegrin U20 national team five years ago.

   #8. Swingman Suad Sehovic (196-87, currently plays in Ukraine), who plays in the Ukrainian Superleague was not able to secure a victory for Khimik (18-13) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance Khimik was defeated 82-68 on the opponent's court by the higher-ranked Mykolaiv (#3). Sehovic was the second best scorer with 13 points. He also added 7 rebounds. This season Sehovic has relatively solid stats: 11.2ppg, 5.3rpg, 1.3apg and 1.1spg. He plays currently for the Montenegrin national team.

Former U20 international power forward Nemanja Radovic (206-91, another player represented by Beo Basket, currently plays in Serbia) helped Vrsac win their game against the closely-ranked Sloboda (12-10) 79-73 in the Serbian A League last Saturday. Radovic recorded 15 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 30 minutes. KK Vrsac (12-10) is placed fifth in the A League. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. Radovic is currently fourth on the list of top scorers and also on the list of best rebounders (second place). He has very impressive stats this year: 15.6ppg, 8.9rpg and 1.1apg in the 22 games. Radovic used to play for the Montenegrin U20 national team two years ago.

   #10. Center Blagota Sekulic (209-82, agency: FCM, currently plays in Spain) helped CB Canarias win their game against the closely-ranked Blusens Monbus (10-12) 84-77 in the Spanish ACB on Sunday night. He was the top player that evening. Sekulic recorded 17 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Iberostar Canarias Tenerife (9-13) is placed 13th in the ACB. Sekulic's total stats this season are: 9.5ppg and 5.0rpg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Montenegrin National Team roster.

   #11. An experienced former international forward Ivan Ivanovic (205-80, currently plays in Romania) was the major contributor in a Gaz Metan's victory against the closely-ranked Pitesti 71-55 in the Romanian Liga Nationala in Saturday night's game. Ivanovic scored 15 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, passed 3 assists and added 2 blocks in 34 minutes. Ivanovic has reliable stats this year: 13.4ppg, 6.3rpg and 2.0apg in the 24 games. He used to play for the Montenegrin national team five years ago.

   #12. Former U21 international center Milovan Savic (205-87, currently plays in Serbia) helped Konstantin win their game against the 13th-ranked Sloga 91-77 in the Serbian A League last Saturday. Savic recorded 13 points and added 5 passes. Savic averaged so far 10.9ppg, 4.6rpg and 1.1apg. He used to play for the Montenegrin U21 national team back in 2007.

   #13. International point guard Taylor Rochestie (185-85, college: Washington St., currently plays in Italy) couldn't help Angelico Biella in their game against Montepaschi Siena in the Italian SerieA, despite his very good performance last Sunday. He scored 16 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 5 assists in 31 minutes. But his team was crushed by 23 points 98-75. Rochestie's stats this year are: 12.8ppg, 2.3rpg and 2.5apg in the six games. He is a naturalized American. Rochestie is also Montenegrin national team player. Strangely he has never played in Montenegro.

   #14. Former U21 international point guard Goran Martinic (183-87, agency: BeoExcell, currently plays in Romania) couldn't help CSM Bucuresti in their game against Targu Mures in the Romanian Liga Nationala. Despite his very good performance on Saturday night Martinic scored 14 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 9 assists. Martinic is currently second on the list of top scorers and also on the list of best passers (sixth place). This season he has very high stats. Martinic averages: 20.3ppg, 2.8rpg, 5.2apg and 1.6spg. He used to play for the Montenegrin U21 national team back in 2007.

   #15. International point guard Omar-Sharif Cook (188-82, another player represented by Beo Basket, college: St.John's, currently plays in Euroleague) is a teammate of previously mentioned Milko Bjelica. But that was another game of his team in Euroleague which we would like to mention. Cook couldn't help Caja Laboral in their game against Maccabi T-A. He cannot count Thursday's game as one of the best ones. Cook scored only 3 points and added 4 assists in 18 minutes. His team lost 62-66. This year Cook's total stats are: 3.3ppg, 1.1rpg and 2.9apg in the nine games. He is a naturalized American. Cook is also in the roster of the Montenegrin national team. Apparently he has never played in Montenegro.


The list of other players, who all have Montenegrin passport but never been selected to any of Montenegrin national teams:

   #1. Nikola Mirotic (207-F/C-91, currently plays in Spain) was the major contributor in a Real Madrid's victory against the 16th-ranked Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (6-16) crushing them 88-65 in a derby game in the Spanish ACB on Sunday night. Mirotic recorded 15 points in a mere 19 minutes. Real Madrid (21-1) is placed first in the ACB. It was his team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. Mirotic has relatively good stats this year: 13.7ppg and 5.3rpg in the 22 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Montenegrin and Spanish. Despite Mirotic's Montenegrin passport, he previously played for the Spanish U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Montenegrin team.

   #2. Radomir Marojevic (207-C-81, currently plays in Serbia) led Vojvodina to a victory against the eighth-ranked OKK Beograd (10-12) 86-79 in the Serbian A League in Saturday night's game. He recorded 17 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in a mere 19 minutes. KK Vojvodina Novi Sad (17-5) is placed second in the A League. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Marojevic's total stats are: 9.4ppg and 3.4rpg in the 21 games.

   #3. Experienced Branko Cuic (197-G-78, currently plays in Romania) contributed to a Targu Mures' victory against the 11th-ranked Rovinari (11-13) 92-84 in the Romanian Liga Nationala on Wednesday night. Cuic scored 18 points, had 8 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 34 minutes. BC Mures Targu-Mures (17-7) is placed third in the Liga Nationala. Cuic belongs to league's best passers and is ranked #4 with 5.6apg. This year his other stats are: 13.2ppg and 6.5rpg in the 23 games.

   #4. Balsa Radunovic (207-F/C-80, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in FYR Macedonia) led Lirija to a victory over the seventh-ranked Vardar (2-10) 81-74 in a derby game in the FYR Macedonian Prva Liga in Saturday night's game. Radunovic was the top player that evening. He recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 10 rebounds. Radunovic also added 3 assists. KK Lirija Skopje (9-3) is placed second in the Prva Liga. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. Radunovic is ranked fourth on the list of the top scorers in the league and also on the list of best rebounders (fourth place). He has individually a very good season with high stats. Radunovic averages: 15.7ppg, 7.9rpg, 2.6apg and 1.3spg.

   #5. Dusan Djordjevic (195-G-83, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in Belgium) helped Base Oostende win their game against one of league's weakest teams Leuven Bears (5-12) 80-72 in the Belgian Ethias League on Friday night. Djordjevic scored 7 points and added 3 passes in 23 minutes. Telenet Oostende (14-5) is placed first in the Ethias League. Djordjevic belongs to league's best passers and is ranked #4 with 4.3apg. This year his other stats are: 7.8ppg and 2.9rpg in the 18 games. Djordjevic is another player who holds two passports: Serbian and Montenegrin.

   #6. Marko Ilic (203-F-76, currently plays in Serbia) helped BKK Radnicki win their game against the closely-ranked Smederevo Vizura 70-66 in the Serbian A League last Saturday. He recorded 14 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 35 minutes. Ilic has averaged so far 4.9ppg and 3.1rpg in the 15 games.

   #7. Mensud Julevic (200-PF-85, currently plays in Slovenia), who plays in the Slovenian Telemach League could not help Elektra (8-8) in their last game. Despite his good performance Elektra lost 83-91 on the road to the lower-ranked (#7) Geoplin Slovan. Julevic recorded 10 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists in 38 minutes. He averaged so far 12.7ppg, 5.5rpg and 1.9apg in the 15 games. Julevic has both Montenegrin and Slovenian nationalities. Despite his Montenegrin passport, Julevic previously played for the Slovenian U21 national team and probably cannot be called to the Montenegrin team.

   #8. Novak Popovic (207-C-81, currently plays in Bosnia) helped Capljina Lasta win their game against the ninth-ranked Posusje 81-71 in the Bosnia and Herzegovina Division I in Saturday night's game. He scored 12 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Popovic is currently third on the league's list of best blockers. This season he has very high stats. Popovic averages: 15.7ppg, 5.1rpg and 1.7apg.

   #9. Boris Lalovic (209-C-81, currently plays in Bosnia) was the main contributor in a Zrinjski HT's victory against the closely-ranked Leotar 72-54 in the Bosnia and Herzegovina Division I last Sunday. He was the top player that evening. Lalovic scored 19 points and grabbed 9 rebounds (went 6 for 6 at the free throw line) in 32 minutes. Lalovic belongs to league's top scorers (ranked #3) and also on the list of best rebounders (third place). He has very impressive stats this year: 19.5ppg, 8.2rpg and 1.4apg in the 17 games.

   #10. Ranko Velimirovic (205-C/F-72, also represented by Beo Basket, currently plays in Bosnia) helped Mladost win their game against the fifth-ranked Varda HE 77-59 in the Bosnia and Herzegovina Division I last Saturday. Velimirovic scored 12 points. He averaged so far 11.5ppg, 3.6rpg and 2.2apg.

Estudiantes have reportedly agreed on terms of contract extension with Omar-Sharif Cook(186-PG-82, college: St.John's, agency: BeoBasket). The point guard joined the Madrid team at the start of the season. He tallied 5.8 points, 4.7 assists and 1.8 rebounds per game in ACB. Previously Omar-Sharif Cook had stints in Montenegro, Lithuania, Spain, Russia and Belgium. Last season the guard made it onto All-Montenegrin League 2nd Team.   [read more]
