We bring you last week's top performances from Montenegrins who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.


Tyrese Rice

   #1. This week's number one is former international point guard Tyrese Rice (185-87, college: Boston Coll., currently plays in Spain). He was the major contributor in a FC Barcelona's victory against the closely-ranked Baskonia (12-6) 92-84 in the Spanish Liga Endesa in Sunday night's game. Rice recorded 17 points and added 8 assists in 34 minutes on the court. FC Barcelona Lassa (13-4) is placed third in the Liga Endesa. Rice has relatively good stats this year: 13.3ppg, 1.6rpg, 3.8apg, 2FGP: 54.4%, 3FGP: 31.0% and FT: 77.8% in 16 games he played so far. He is a naturalized American. Rice played for the Montenegrin senior national team three years ago. Strangely he has never played in Montenegro.

   #2. Second place goes to an international forward Marko Todorovic (209-92, currently plays in VTB United League). Todorovic led his Russian team Khimky to a victory over the closely-ranked VEF Riga (7-6) 104-90 in the VTB United League last Sunday. He was MVP of the game. Todorovic scored 22 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and dished 3 assists. BC Khimky Moscow Region (11-3) is placed fourth in the VTB United League. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This season Todorovic averages: 9.8ppg, 7.8rpg, 1.8apg, 2FGP: 69.0%(49-71) and FT: 55.6%. He is in the roster of the Montenegrin senior national team.

   #3. The Montenegrin player who performed third best last week abroad was an international center Nikola Vucevic (213-90, college: USC, currently plays in NBA). Vucevic was the main contributor in a 1-point Orlando Magic's victory against the Toronto Raptors (30-20) 114-113 in the NBA on Sunday night. He was the best player in that game. Vucevic had a double-double by scoring 25 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 5 assists and 4 blocks in 33 minutes. The Orlando Magic has 19-32 record this season. It's Vucevic's fifth year with the team. Vucevic has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 14.0ppg, 9.8rpg, 2.9apg, 2FGP: 49.0%, 3FGP: 28.0% and FT: 63.2% in 48 games. Vucevic is also a member of the Montenegrin senior national team.

   #4. Shooting guard Vladimir Mihailovic (193-90, currently plays in Germany) contributed to a EWE Baskets' victory against the 15th-ranked Braunschweig (4-15) 83-76 in the German BBL in Saturday night's game. He was the top player that evening. Mihailovic scored 19 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. EWE Baskets Oldenburg (11-8) is placed sixth in the BBL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Mihailovic's first season with the team. His overall stats this year are: 6.4ppg, 5.0rpg and 1.6apg. Mihailovic is also Montenegrin national team player.

International power forward Bojan Dubljevic (205-91, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in Spain) helped Valencia Basket win their game against the 14th-ranked Gran Canaria (3-14) 86-81 in the Spanish Liga Endesa last Saturday. He recorded 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 22 minutes. Valencia Basket (13-5) is placed fourth in the Liga Endesa. Dubljevic is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Valencia Basket's roster. This season Dubljevic has relatively solid stats: 11.9ppg, 5.6rpg and 1.6apg in 14 games. He plays currently for the Montenegrin national team.

   #6. Power forward Nemanja Radovic (208-91, also represented by BeoBasket, currently plays in EuroCup) could not help one of league's weakest teams UCAM Murcia (1-4) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite Radovic's very good performance UCAM Murcia was badly defeated 85-69 on the road by the higher-ranked Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (#3). He was the top scorer with 26 points. Radovic also added 6 rebounds. His team will play only one more game in the Eurocup Second Stage. And that game will be critical. Radovic's overall stats this season are: 9.0ppg and 3.7rpg. He is a former international player as he played for the Montenegrin senior team three years ago.

Former international power forward Milko Bjelica (207-84, another player represented by BeoBasket, currently plays in ABA League) helped his Serbian team Crvena Zvezda win their game against the tenth-ranked Mornar Bar (7-13) 82-71 in the ABA League in Monday night's game. Bjelica scored 9 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 21 minutes. Crvena Zvezda MTS Beograd (20-0) is placed first in the ABA League. So far his team won all twenty games in the Regular Season. Bjelica has reliable stats this year: 10.3ppg, 4.0rpg and 1.4apg in 20 games. He used to play for the Montenegrin national team three years ago.

   #8. Point guard Nikola Ivanovic (190-94, currently plays in Italy) helped Betaland Cdo win their game against the closely-ranked Umana Venezia (12-5) 90-82 in the Italian Serie A last Sunday. Ivanovic scored 18 points, made 4 passes and 3 steals (was perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line). Betaland Capo d'Orlando (9-8) is placed fifth in the Serie A. Ivanovic averaged so far 14.0ppg, 5.0apg and 3.0spg. He plays currently for the Montenegrin national team.

International power forward Nemanja Djurisic (203-92, college: Georgia, currently plays in Poland) helped Stelmet win their game against the league outsider Stabill (3-15) crushing them 105-65 in the Polish PLK on Wednesday night. Djurisic scored 17 points in a mere 19 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his second season in pro basketball. Stelmet Zielona Gora (15-3) is placed first in the PLK. It was his team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. Djurisic averaged so far 11.1ppg and 5.1rpg in 14 games. He is also in the roster of the Montenegrin national team.

   #10. Point guard Derek Needham (180-90, college: Fairfield, currently plays in Italy) was not able to help Grissin Bon RE (9-8) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Needham's good performance Grissin Bon RE was defeated 82-72 in Sassari by the higher-ranked Banco di Srd (#4). He scored 11 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 6 assists. Needham's overall stats this season are: 9.2ppg, 1.9rpg, 2.5apg and 1.2spg. He is a naturalized American. Needham is an international player who is currently on the senior Montenegrin National Team roster. Apparently he has never played in Montenegro.

   #11. Former University international center Mihailo Sekulovic (206-91, currently plays in Bulgaria) helped Balkan win their game against one of league's weakest teams Yambol 62-55 in the Bulgarian NBL last Saturday. Sekulovic was the top player that evening. He recorded 16 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists in 38 minutes. Sekulovic has very impressive stats this year: 17.7ppg, 8.8rpg and 1.9apg in 14 games. He used to play for the Montenegrin university national team two years ago.

   #12. Former international center Blagota Sekulic (210-82, currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (8-10) in their last game. Despite his good performance Baloncesto Fuenlabrada was badly defeated 89-73 in Malaga by the higher-ranked (#5) Unicaja. Sekulic was the second best scorer with 12 points. He also added 5 rebounds in 21 minutes. This year Sekulic's overall stats are: 6.1ppg and 4.1rpg in 12 games. He used to play for the Montenegrin national team back in 2015.

   #13. Former U17 international guard Nikola Vujicic (185-89, currently plays in Serbia) helped KK Jagodina win their game against the closely-ranked Futog 84-76 in the Serbian 2MLS (second division) last Sunday. Vujicic was the top player that evening. He recorded 28 points (!!!), 4 rebounds and 3 assists. This season Vujicic has very high stats. He averages: 16.1ppg, 6.8rpg, 3.2apg and 1.1spg. Vujicic used to play for the Montenegrin U17 national team eleven years ago.

   #14. Former international power forward Radosav Spasojevic (204-92, another player represented by BeoBasket, currently plays in ABA League) couldn't help Mega Leks in their game against MZT Skopje in the ABA League. Despite his very good performance in Saturday night's game Spasojevic was the top scorer with 14 points. Spasojevic's total stats this season are: 9.4ppg and 3.4rpg. He used to play for the Montenegrin national team back in 2015.

   #15. International shooting guard Nikola Pavlicevic (192-88, currently plays in Hungary) helped Szolnok win their game against the ninth-ranked KTE-Duna crushing them 88-61 in the Hungarian A Division last Saturday. Pavlicevic was the top player that evening. He scored 16 points, made 6 passes and 3 steals in 21 minutes. Pavlicevic averaged so far 14.3ppg, 3.3rpg, 4.1apg and 1.1spg in eight games. He is also in the roster of the Montenegrin national team.


The list of other players, who all have Montenegrin passport but never been selected to any of Montenegrin national teams:

   #1. Stevan Milosevic (211-C-85, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Slovenia) led Un.Olimpija to a victory against the ninth-ranked Sencur Gorenjska gradbena druzba Kranj (6-11) 96-92 in the Slovenian Liga Nova KBM on Wednesday night. Milosevic scored 14 points. Union Olimpija Ljubljana (13-4) is placed third in the Liga Nova KBM. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Milosevic's overall stats this season are: 6.1ppg, 4.7rpg and 1.3apg.

   #2. Nikola Mirotic (207-F/C-91, currently plays in NBA) contributed to a Chicago Bulls' victory against the Philadelphia 76ers (17-32) 121-108 in the NBA on Sunday night. He scored 13 points in 26 minutes. The Chicago Bulls have 25-25 record this season. Mirotic averaged so far 9.0ppg and 5.2rpg in 44 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Montenegrin and Spanish.

   #3. Experienced Boris Lalovic (207-C-81, currently plays in Romania) was the major contributor in a CSU Sibiu's victory against the closely-ranked Pitesti (11-7) 80-71 in the Romanian Liga Nationala in Friday night's game. Lalovic scored 16 points, had 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 29 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. CSU Atlassib Sibiu (12-6) is placed third in the Liga Nationala. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Lalovic averaged so far 11.1ppg, 3.6rpg and 1.2apg in 18 games.

   #4. Mikaile Tmusic (188-G-93, currently plays in Kosovo) led Bashkimi to a victory over the league outsider Kerasan (0-16) 96-84 in the Kosovan SuperLeague last Sunday. He was the top player that evening. Tmusic recorded 30 points (!!!) and grabbed 5 rebounds in 40 minutes. KB Bashkimi Prizrenis placed first in the SuperLeague. Tmusic averaged so far 12.0ppg, 4.1rpg, 3.1apg and 1.2spg in 13 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Montenegrin and Kosovan.

   #5. Nikola Vukovic (202-F/C-90, currently plays in Serbia) helped Dunav SB win their game against the closely-ranked Tamis (9-6) 72-59 in the Serbian KLS on Saturday night. Vukovic scored 7 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. KK Dunav Stari Banovci (9-6) is placed fifth in the KLS. Vukovic's total stats this season are: 8.7ppg and 5.3rpg.

   #6. Milos Komatina (206-F/C-84, currently plays in Romania) helped BC Timisoara edge the closely-ranked Oradea 85-84 in the Romanian Liga Nationala in Wednesday night's game. He recorded 12 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 43 minutes. Komatina averaged so far 12.6ppg, 3.8rpg, 2.5apg and 1.5spg in 17 games.

   #7. Stefan Ljubenkovic (197-F-95, agency: Mansfield and Associates, currently plays in Serbia) helped Spartak win their game against the 14th-ranked Smederevo 86-71 in the Serbian KLS in Saturday night's game. He scored 6 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Ljubenkovic's total stats this season are: 8.2ppg, 2.2rpg, 1.7apg and 1.3spg. He has both Montenegrin and Serbian nationalities. Despite Ljubenkovic's Montenegrin passport, he previously played for the Serbian U18 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Montenegrin team.

   #8. Filip Popovic (202-PF, currently plays in Serbia) could not help Radnicki 1950 (11-5) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Popovic's very good performance Radnicki 1950 was defeated 92-88 at home by the lower-ranked Proleter Naftagas (#4). He recorded 15 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Popovic's total stats this season are: 8.5ppg and 4.7rpg.

   #9. Ivan Zejak (203-SF-87, currently plays in Slovakia) helped Handlova win their game against the league outsider Nitra crushing them 95-67 in the Slovakian SBL on Wednesday night. He scored 14 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Zejak's total stats this season are: 9.0ppg and 5.5rpg.

   #10. Gligorije Rakocevic (211-C-95, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA was not able to help the Oregon St. (0-4) in their last game. Despite his good performance the Oregon St. was badly defeated 71-54 on the road by the University of Arizona. Rakocevic recorded 12 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 35 minutes. This year Rakocevic's total stats are: 3.2ppg and 3.0rpg in 21 games.

KK ABS Primorje 1945 Herceg Novi (Erste Liga) landed 23-year old Montenegrin center Vladimir Starovlah (209-94). He played most recently at NPC Virtus Imola in Italian Serie C Gold. Starovlah also spent pre-season at Buducnost that year.
His team made it to the Montenegrin Cup Final Four in 2014.
