Here is the weekly review of the top performing Montenegrin players, who play currently abroad.


Bojan Dubljevic

   #1. This week's number one is an international power forward Bojan Dubljevic (205-91, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in EuroCup). He led his Spanish team Valencia Basket to an easy victory against the closely-ranked ALBA Berlin (1-5) crushing them 99-73 in the Eurocup in Wednesday night's game. Dubljevic scored 16 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 21 minutes on the court. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Valencia Basket (6-0) is placed first in the Eurocup. So far his team won all six games in the Second Stage. There are only two games left until the end of the Eurocup Second Stage. So now every game will be critical. It's Dubljevic's fourth season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year: 11.2ppg, 5.6rpg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 52.2%, 3FGP: 34.8% and FT: 93.1%(27-29) in 11 games he played so far. Dubljevic is currently a member of the Montenegrin senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international center Nikola Vucevic (213-90, college: USC, currently plays in NBA). He could not help the Orlando Magic (20-35) in their last game on Thursday. Despite Vucevic's very good performance the Orlando Magic (20-35) was edged 112-111 on the road by the Philadelphia 76ers. He recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and getting 11 rebounds. Vucevic also added 3 assists and 2 blocks. Vucevic is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fifth year in Magic's roster. He has individually a very good season with high stats. Vucevic averages: 14.1ppg, 9.9rpg, 2.9apg, 2FGP: 49.8%, 3FGP: 28.0% and FT: 61.0%. He is in the roster of the Montenegrin senior national team.

   #3. The Montenegrin player who performed third best last week abroad was an international point guard Nikola Ivanovic (190-94, currently plays in Italy). Ivanovic was the major contributor in a 1-point Betaland Cdo's victory against the tenth-ranked Auxilium TO (9-9) 92-91 in the Italian Serie A on Sunday night. He scored 20 points and added 5 passes in 32 minutes. Betaland Capo d'Orlando (10-8) is placed sixth in the Serie A. Ivanovic has very impressive stats this year: 16.0ppg, 1.7rpg, 5.0apg, 2.3spg, 2FGP: 55.6%, 3FGP: 39.1% in three games. He is also a member of the Montenegrin senior national team.

   #4. Point guard Tyrese Rice (185-87, college: Boston Coll., currently plays in Euroleague) was not able to help FC Barcelona (8-13) in their last game on Thursday. Despite Rice's good performance the 11th-placed FC Barcelona (8-13) was defeated 89-85 in Kaunas by the higher-ranked Zalgiris (#10) in the group A of Euroleague. He was the second best scorer with 12 points. Rice also added 7 assists. This season Rice has relatively solid stats: 14.6ppg, 1.9rpg, 5.3apg and 1.1spg. He is a naturalized American. Rice used to play for the Montenegrin national team back in 2014. Strangely he has never played in Montenegro.

   #5. Former international power forward Milko Bjelica (207-84, also represented by BeoBasket, currently plays in Euroleague) was not able to secure a victory for Crvena Zvezda (12-10) in their last game. Despite Bjelica's good performance Crvena Zvezda (#6) lost 72-86 at home to the lower-ranked (#8) Anadolu Efes in the group A of Euroleague. He scored 12 points in a mere 15 minutes. This year Bjelica's overall stats are: 8.0ppg, 3.1rpg and 1.4apg in 22 games. He has a dual citizenship: Montenegrin and Serbian. Bjelica used to play for the Montenegrin national team three years ago.

   #6. Shooting guard Vladimir Mihailovic (193-90, currently plays in Basketball Champions League) couldn't help EWE Baskets (10-4) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite his good performance EWE Baskets (#3) was edged 87-84 in Saratov by the lower-ranked Avtodor (#4) in the group C of Basketball Champions League. Mihailovic recorded 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Mihailovic's total stats this season are: 9.5ppg, 3.5rpg and 1.8apg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Montenegrin National Team roster.

Former international point guard Taylor Rochestie (185-85, college: Washington St., currently plays in EuroCup) led his Russian team Lokomotiv to a victory against the closely-ranked UCAM Murcia (1-5) 85-77 in the Eurocup in Wednesday night's game. Rochestie scored 14 points and added 4 passes in 23 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Lokomotiv Kuban (5-1) is placed first in the Eurocup. There are only two games left until the end of the Eurocup Second Stage. So now every game is very crucial. It's Rochestie's first season with the team. He has reliable stats this year: 12.2ppg, 1.7rpg and 2.3apg in 10 games. Rochestie is a naturalized American. He used to play for the Montenegrin national team three years ago. Apparently Rochestie has never played in Montenegro.

   #8. Power forward Nemanja Radovic (208-91, another player represented by BeoBasket, currently plays in EuroCup) faced previously mentioned Taylor Rochestie in the Eurocup last game. Radovic couldn't help UCAM Murcia (1-5) in their game against Lokomotiv (5-1). Despite his very good performance last Wednesday He was the second best scorer with 17 points. Radovic also added 6 rebounds and made 2 blocks. The Second Stage already ended in the Eurocup. Radovic's total stats this season are: 9.6ppg and 3.9rpg. He used to play for the Montenegrin national team back in 2014.

International shooting guard Nikola Pavlicevic (192-88, currently plays in Hungary) couldn't help Szolnok (10-7) in their game against Falco KC (11-6) in the Hungarian A Division, despite his very good performance on Sunday night. Pavlicevic was the top scorer with 24 points. He also added 3 assists in 35 minutes. But Szolnok lost 79-87 in Szombathely to the second-ranked Falco KC. They ended the series of four consecutive victories. Pavlicevic has very impressive stats this year: 15.3ppg, 3.1rpg, 4.0apg and 1.2spg in nine games. He is also in the roster of the Montenegrin national team.

   #10. Guard Amin Hott (192-92, currently plays in Bulgaria) couldn't help Balkan (9-6) in their game against Spartak Pleven (7-8) in the Bulgarian NBL. Despite his very good performance in Saturday night's game Hott was the top scorer with 18 points. He also added 4 boards, passed 5 assists and added 4 steals. Hott's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is quite important. Hott averaged so far 11.9ppg, 4.0rpg, 5.7apg and 1.9spg. He is a former U18 international player as seven years ago he still played for the Montenegrin national team.

   #11. Former University international center Mihailo Sekulovic (206-91, currently plays in Bulgaria) is a teammate of previously mentioned Amin Hott and both played together in the last Bulgarian NBL game. Sekulovic couldn't help Balkan in their game against Spartak Pleven. Despite his very good performance last Saturday He recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting 11 rebounds. This season Sekulovic has very high stats. He averages: 17.5ppg, 8.9rpg and 1.8apg. Sekulovic used to play for the Montenegrin university national team two years ago.

   #12. Former U21 international point guard Goran Martinic (187-87, currently plays in Romania) couldn't help Targu Mures in their game against Steaua CSM in the Romanian Liga Nationala, despite his very good performance on Saturday night. He was the top scorer with 30 points. Martinic also added 6 rebounds and dished 5 assists in 39 minutes. But his team lost in an overtime 87-93. Martinic has very impressive stats this year: 17.9ppg, 2.7rpg, 7.3apg and 2.2spg in 18 games. He used to play for the Montenegrin U21 national team back in 2007.

   #13. Former U20 international swingman Milos Savovic (200-89, currently plays in Serbia) contributed to Vrsac's victory against the 14th-ranked Konstantin 91-85 in the Serbian KLS in Saturday night's game. Savovic recorded 6 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists. Savovic's total stats this season are: 8.1ppg and 3.6rpg. He used to play for the Montenegrin U20 national team eight years ago.

   #14. Former international power forward Radosav Spasojevic (204-92, another player represented by BeoBasket, currently plays in ABA League) led his Serbian team Mega Leks to a victory over the closely-ranked Krka 82-73 in the ABA League last Saturday. Spasojevic was MVP of the game. He scored 14 points in a mere 17 minutes. This year Spasojevic's total stats are: 9.7ppg and 3.4rpg in 14 games. He used to play for the Montenegrin national team back in 2015.

   #15. Former international center Blagota Sekulic (210-82, currently plays in Spain) contributed to a Baloncesto Fuenlabrada's victory against the fourth-ranked Movil Estudiantes 103-97 in a derby game in the Spanish Liga Endesa in Saturday night's game. He scored 8 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 24 minutes. Sekulic has averaged so far 6.2ppg, 4.2rpg and 1.2apg in 13 games. He used to play for the Montenegrin national team two years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Montenegrin passport but never been selected to any of Montenegrin national teams:

   #1. Experienced Brion Rush (186-PG-84, agency: Three Eye Sports, college: Grambling St., currently plays in France) led Sluc Nancy to a victory over the 13th-ranked Chalons-Reims (7-11) 89-80 in the French ProA last Saturday. Rush was MVP of the game. He scored 24 points and added 7 passes in 33 minutes. Sluc Nancy Basket Pro (4-14) is located at the very bottom in the ProA. But the situation may improve as they ended a series of three consecutive loses. Rush's stats this year are: 14.8ppg, 3.4rpg and 4.2apg in five games he played so far. He is a naturalized American. Rush used to play for KK Sutjeska Niksic in Montenegrin league.

   #2. Nikola Mirotic (207-F/C-91, currently plays in NBA) could not help the Chicago Bulls (26-27) in their last game on Friday. Despite his good performance the Chicago Bulls (26-27) were defeated 121-117 on the road by the Houston Rockets. Mirotic recorded 11 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Mirotic averaged so far 9.1ppg and 5.1rpg. He has a dual citizenship: Montenegrin and Spanish.

   #3. Nikola Dragovic (206-F-87, agency: BeoBasket, college: UCLA, currently plays in France) was not able to help ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket in their game against JSF Nanterre (12-6) in the French ProA. Dragovic scored 7 points and added 4 passes in 33 minutes. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket lost 74-88 in Nanterre to the higher-ranked (#4) JSF Nanterre. It was ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket's first loss after three consecutive victories. This year Dragovic's total stats are: 8.5ppg, 5.1rpg and 1.2apg in 17 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Serbian and Montenegrin. Despite Dragovic's Montenegrin nationality, he previously played for the Serbian university national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Montenegrin team.

   #4. Milos Komatina (206-F/C-84, currently plays in Romania) was the main contributor in a BC Timisoara's victory against the league outsider Olimpic (1-18) 86-69 in the Romanian Liga Nationala on Saturday night. Komatina was the best player in that game. He scored 18 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and dished 4 assists. BC Timisoara (12-7) is placed fifth in the Liga Nationala. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Komatina averaged so far 12.9ppg, 4.1rpg, 2.6apg and 1.6spg.

   #5. Stevan Milosevic (211-C-85, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Slovenia) contributed to Un.Olimpija's victory against the closely-ranked Helios (10-7) 79-71 in the Slovenian Liga Nova KBM on Wednesday night. Milosevic scored 11 points in a mere 15 minutes. Union Olimpija Ljubljana (14-4) is placed third in the Liga Nova KBM. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. Milosevic has averaged so far 6.4ppg, 4.6rpg and 1.4apg in 16 games.

   #6. Nikola Vukovic (202-F/C-90, currently plays in Serbia) was not able to secure a victory for Dunav SB in their game against Mladost ZE in the Serbian KLS. Despite his good performance on Sunday night He recorded 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Vukovic has averaged so far 8.8ppg and 5.4rpg.

   #7. Stefan Ljubenkovic (197-F-95, agency: Mansfield and Associates, currently plays in Serbia) couldn't help Spartak in their game against Beovuk 72 in the Serbian KLS. He recorded 6 points and added 6 passes. His team was defeated 81-75. Ljubenkovic has averaged so far 8.1ppg, 2.2rpg, 2.0apg and 1.3spg. He has both Montenegrin and Serbian nationalities. Despite Ljubenkovic's Montenegrin passport, he previously played for the Serbian U18 national team and probably cannot be called to the Montenegrin team.

   #8. Filip Popovic (202-PF, currently plays in Serbia) was the major contributor in a Radnicki 1950's victory against the ninth-ranked Kolubara 87-68 in the Serbian 2MLS (second division) on Saturday night. Popovic scored 15 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Popovic has averaged so far 8.9ppg and 4.8rpg.

   #9. Nikola Rakocevic (191-G-91, agency: Dynamics Global Management, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked CB Prat crushing them 88-68 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) on Saturday night. He recorded 20 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Rakocevic has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 16.4ppg, 2.6rpg and 2.0apg.

   #10. Rajko Kljajevic (204-F-85, agency: BeoExcell, currently plays in Romania) contributed to a CS Dinamo Bucuresti's victory against the closely-ranked Oradea 93-81 in the Romanian Liga Nationala last Saturday. Kljajevic scored 16 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Kljajevic has averaged so far 9.4ppg and 3.7rpg.

This week's number one is former international point guard Taylor Rochestie (185-85). He could not help one of league's weakest teams Crvena Zvezda (3-1) in their last game. KK Ibar Rozaje (Erste Liga) tabbed 25-year old Montenegrin center Marko Perovic (203-92). He played most recently at Aurore de Vitre in French ProA U21. Perovic managed to play in three leagues in two countries last year (!!!). In 11 NM1 games he averaged 6.0ppg and 1   [read more]

Vladimir Starovlah (ex Imola) signs at KK ABS Primorje 1945 Herceg Novi - 11 hours ago
KK ABS Primorje 1945 Herceg Novi (Erste Liga) landed 23-year old Montenegrin center Vladimir Starovlah (209-94). He played most recently at NPC Virtus Imola in Italian Serie C Gold. Starovlah also spent pre-season at Buducnost that year.
His team made it to the Montenegrin Cup Final Four in 2014.
Starovlah was a member of Montenegrin U20 National Team between 2013 and 2014
