It's still too early stage of the Regular Season in Kvinneligaen, but even now we can clearly see the differece between stronger teams and outsiders.

The biggest surprise of round 4 was guest Oslo Tigers' (1-3) road victory over bottom-ranked BC Asker (0-4) 55-44 on Sunday evening. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 30-16 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Oslo Tigers dominated on the defensive end, holding BC Asker to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They also forced 23 BC Asker turnovers. Guard Eeva-Maria Mannikkoe (-83) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Guard Shirin El-Masrouri (173-93) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Siri Granheim (178-94) produced 13 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Oslo Tigers left bottom position moving up to fifth place. It was BC Asker's fourth loss in a row. They still closes the standings with four games lost. Oslo Tigers are looking forward to face league's leader Gimle in Bergen in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. BC Asker will play at home against Ullern (#3) in Oslo and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Worth to mention a great performance of Nigerian center Justina Udenze (189-89, college: Cent.Conn.St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 25 rebounds. Sthefany Thomas contributed with 30 points, 5 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Gimle's coach Gunnar Gran felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Lise Breivik (181-93) replied with 19 points and 8 rebounds for Ulriken. Gimle have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record. Defending champion Ulriken keeps the fourth place with two games lost. Gimle will play against Oslo Tigers (#5) on the road in the next round. Ulriken will have a break next round.



Gimle - Ulriken 86-61

An exciting game was played in Bergen. Top-ranked Gimle faced 4th ranked Ulriken. Host Gimle (4-0) smashed guests from Bergen (2-2) 86-61. The game without a history. Gimle led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Ulriken's 40 and made 16-of-19 charity shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Gimle forced 19 Ulriken turnovers and outrebounded them 45-33 including 33 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Nigerian center Justina Udenze (189-89, college: Cent.Conn.St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 25 rebounds. Argentinian-American guard Sthefany Thomas (173-89, college: Clemson) contributed with 30 points, 5 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Former international Forward Maren Hoff Austgulen (182-F-91) had a great game in the last round for second-ranked Ulriken, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 9. The 25-year old player was the main contributor (21 points, nine rebounds and three assists) to her team's victory, helping them to beat Gimle Pride (#5, 2-6) 70-60. Very significant was Asker's (#3, 5-3) victory against 4th placed Hoybraten (2-5) 61-45. The game was mostly controlled by Asker. Hoybraten managed to win fourth quarter 14-2. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Asker forced 21 Hoybraten turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 22-year old point guard Sigrid Hardie (163-PG-94) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Bergen and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 8. She had the game-high 12 points adding eight rebounds and six assists for Bergen in her team's victory, helping them to edge out Gimle Pride (#5, 2-5) 59-57.
