Kvinneligaen top team - Gimle (8-0) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed sixth ranked Oslo Tigers (1-8) in Bergen 93-45. The game without a history. Gimle led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Oslo Tigers' 28. Gimle forced 29 Oslo Tigers turnovers and outrebounded them 53-28 including a 27-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Nigerian center Justina Udenze (189-89, college: Cent.Conn.St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 25 rebounds and 6 assists. Argentinian-American guard Sthefany Thomas (173-89, college: Clemson) contributed with 25 points and 7 steals for the winners. Forward Uzoma Ifejilika (-92) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds for Oslo Tigers. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Gimle have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-0 record. Oslo Tigers lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with eight games lost. Gimle are again looking forward to face bottom-ranked Oslo Tigers (#6) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Oslo Tigers will have a break next round.
The game in Rykkinn was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Ammerud (5-3) played at the court of 5th ranked BC Asker (1-7). Ammerud defeated BC Asker 64-49. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Sara Grindelid (183-82) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and Marianne Sand who added 10 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Forward Siri Granheim (178-94) responded with 6 points and 11 rebounds. Ammerud have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. BC Asker at the other side keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

In the last game of round 8 bottom-ranked Oslo Tigers were smashed by Ulriken on the road 76-44.



BC Asker - Ammerud 49-64

The game in Rykkinn was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Ammerud (5-3) played at the court of 5th ranked BC Asker (1-7). Ammerud defeated BC Asker 64-49. The game was mostly controlled by Ammerud. BC Asker was better in fourth quarter 14-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Sara Grindelid (183-82) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and center Marianne Sand (184-93) who added 10 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four Ammerud players scored in double figures. Forward Siri Granheim (178-94) responded with 6 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Kristine Skorpen (170-94) scored 9 points and 5 rebounds. Ammerud have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. BC Asker at the other side keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Ulriken - Oslo Tigers 76-44

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Ulriken (4-4) crushed bottom-ranked Oslo Tigers (1-8) in Bergen 76-44. The game was mostly controlled by Ulriken. Oslo Tigers was better in fourth quarter 13-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Oslo Tigers to just 6 points in first quarter. Ulriken dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Oslo Tigers' 32 and made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Ulriken forced 34 Oslo Tigers turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Anita Grimstad (177-88) who helped to win the game recording 12 points and 5 rebounds and forward Lise Breivik (181-93) who added 10 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Forward Uzoma Ifejilika (-92) responded with 7 points and guard Merve Payasli (-91) scored 7 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains fourth position with 4-4 record. Oslo Tigers lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with eight games lost. Ulriken will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Oslo Tigers will play at home against the league's leader Gimle (#1) in Bergen to get more than just one victory in their record.
