Best players of Norwegian Kvinneligaen round 10 - Nov 12, 2012

Tori
Halvorsen
Former international power forward Tori Halvorsen (187-F/C-88) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's second-best Ullern and that's her to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 10.
The 24-year old power forward had a double-double of 14 points and eleven rebounds, while her team outclassed Oslo Tigers (#6, 1-10) with 39-point margin 73-34. Ullern maintains the 2nd position in Norwegian Kvinneligaen. They are still close to the very top. Ullern would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 6-1 record. Halvorsen turned to be Ullern's top player in her first season with the team.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was another Ullern's star - young center Julie McCarthy (187-C-93). McCarthy impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds. Of course together with Halvorsen she helped Ullern with another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Oslo Tigers (#6, 1-10) 73-34. Ullern's second position in the standings has not changed. Her team lost just one game this season, while they won 6 matches. McCarthy is well-known by Ullern fans and together with Tori Halvorsen they both established positions among team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 13.0ppg (#9). She also registered 11.0 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was Siri Granheim (178-F-94) of BC Asker (#5). Granheim showcased her all-around game by recording 10 points, fifteen rebounds (!!!) and four assists in the last round. Despite Granheim's great performance BC Asker lost 53-58 to slightly higher-ranked Ammerud (#3, 6-3). But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates. BC Asker can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 1-8 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Granheim she does not play for a better team. But maybe if she did, her season stats would not be that high. The season just started for Granheim as she played only first game. But it already looks like she can be team's leader.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Sara Grindelid (183-F-82) of Ammerud - 25 points and 6 rebounds
5. Kristine Kristiansen (173-G-75) of Ullern - 9 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Kristina Kroge (177-F-87) of Ammerud - 12 points and 5 rebounds
7. Elin Gulbrandsen (173-G-94) of BC Asker - 9 points and 12 rebounds
8. Cecilia Gnaly (182-F-92) of Ullern - 8 points and 7 rebounds
9. Karoline Fadnes (173-G-92) of Ullern - 6 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Kristine Skorpen (170-PG-94) of BC Asker - 19 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Kvinneligaen Round 9: Hoybraten lose to Asker in the game between Top 4 teams - 2 days ago

Very significant was Asker's (#3, 5-3) victory against 4th placed Hoybraten (2-5) 61-45. The game was mostly controlled by Asker. Hoybraten managed to win fourth quarter 14-2. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Asker forced 21 Hoybraten turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Forward Severine Uggen (183-99) stepped up and scored 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and forward Ingrid Selvik (178-92) chipped in 17 poin...   [read more]

Hardie's 12 points and 8 rebounds give her Player of the Week award - 6 days ago

22-year old point guard Sigrid Hardie (163-PG-94) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Bergen and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 8. She had the game-high 12 points adding eight rebounds and six assists for Bergen in her team's victory, helping them to edge out Gimle Pride (#5, 2-5) 59-57. Bergen maintains the 6th position in Norwegian Kvinneligaen. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked at the very bottom. They already lo...   [read more]
