The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Centrum (10-3) in Oslo on Sunday night. Hosts were rolled over by Tromso (10-2) 93-68. It was a key game for the top position in the league as both teams had the same 9-2 record before this meeting. The game was mostly controlled by Tromso. Centrum managed to win third quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tromso dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Centrum's 36. It was a good game for American forward Jonathan Jones (196-88, college: Kean) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 17 rebounds. The other American import guard Gary Wallace (187-88, college: Robert Morris, agency: TSS Management) contributed with 23 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. The former international point guard Mustafa Mahnin (182-80) replied with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for Centrum. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tromso have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Centrum at the other side dropped to the second place with three games lost. Tromso will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Centrum's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Oslo Ammerud Bskt.
The game in Oslo was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Tromso (10-2) played at the court of 6th ranked Ammerud Bskt (2-9). Tromso did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 86-67. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Jonathan Jones (196-88, college: Kean) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 8 rebounds and Gary Wallace who added 16 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American swingman Ronald Timus (197-84, college: Morgan St.) with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tromso have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Ammerud Bskt lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with nine games lost. Tromso will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ammerud Bskt's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Oslo to the arena Centrum.
The game between third ranked Gimle BBK (7-6) and 5th ranked Baerum Basket (5-6) in Bergen on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Gimle BBK outscored guests from Bekkestua 83-54. The winners were led by Stian Enge who scored that evening 24 points and 7 rebounds. Even 15 points by Phillip Holm did not help to save the game for Baerum Basket. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gimle BBK maintains third position with 7-6 record having just two points less than leader Tromso. Loser Baerum Basket dropped to the fourth place with six games lost. Gimle BBK will meet at home Asker Aliens (#6) in the next round. Baerum Basket will have a break next round.
