Thompson's double-double lands him Player of the Week award - Nov 19, 2012

22-year old forward Keith Thompson (197-F-90) put on an amazing game in the last round for Baerum Basket and receives a Player of the Week award for round 12.
He had a double-double of 32 points and 14 rebounds, while his team beat Froya Basket (#5, 5-7) 88-77. Baerum Basket is placed at 4th position in Norwegian league. Baerum Basket is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 5-6 record. Thompson turned to be Baerum Basket's top player in his first season with the team. Utah Valley University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Thompson is league's best scorer averaging so far 21.9ppg. Thompson is in league's top in rebounds (3rd best: 10.0rpg) and averages solid 2.4bpg,2.1spg and 53.1% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Jonathan Jones (196-F-88) of top-ranked Tromso. He is American forward in his first season at Tromso. In the last game Jones recorded impressive double-double of 18 points and 17 rebounds. Of course he lead Tromso to another comfortable win outscoring slightly lower-ranked Centrum (#2, 10-3) 93-68. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Tromso consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. His team lost just two games this season, while they won 10 matches. Jones is a newcomer at Tromso and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.6ppg (#3). He also registered 15.3 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to another Tromso's star - forward Jonathan Jones (196-F-88). Jones scored 27 points and grabbed eight rebounds. He was another key player of Tromso, helping his team with a 86-67 easy win against the lower-ranked Ammerud Bskt (#7, 2-9). Tromso confirms their top position in the standings Jones has a great season in Norway. After 12 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 21.6ppg (3rd best) and rebounds with 15.3rpg (#1 in league).

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Rokas Grinius (ex Nevezis) joins Kongsberg - 2 days ago

Kongsberg Miners (BLNO) added to their roster 28-year old Lithuania center Rokas Grinius (204-101kg-88, agency: Mansfield and Associates). He played last season at Nevezis in Lithuania LKL league. But in 15 games he had just 0.9ppg. Grinius also played 11 games in Baltic League, but he recorded only 0.6ppg and 1.0rpg. His team made it to the quarterfinals. Nidaros Jets Trondheim (BLNO) inked 22-year old guard Aleksander Fredheim (192-94) from Asker Aliens. Fredheim has played there for the last four years. Froya Basket Laksevag (BLNO) strengthened their roster with addition of 25-year old French forward Ivan Emanuely (199-91). He has played for the last two years at MTV Herzoege Wolfenbuettel in German ProB. In 24 games he recorded 6.3ppg, 2.4rpg and 1.0apg last season.
