Former international guard Sigrun Eskeland (G-83) put on an amazing game in the last round for second-ranked Ullern, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 12. The 29-year old player was the main contributor (23 points, five rebounds and four assists) to her team's victory, helping them to beat Ammerud (#3, 7-4) 69-58. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Ullern maintains the 2nd position in Norwegian Kvinneligaen. They are still close to the very top. Ullern would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 8-2 record. In the team's last game Eskeland had a remarkable 53.8% from 2-point range and got three three-pointers out of 7 attempts. She turned to be Ullern's top player in her first season with the team. Sigrun Eskeland averages this season 18.8ppg.
The second best player in last round's games was 23-year old Nigerian Justina Udenze (189-C-89) of league's leader Gimle. Udenze had a very good evening with a double-double of 27 points and 13 rebounds. Bad luck as Gimle lost that game 71-79 to the lower-ranked Ulriken (#4, 5-5). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Gimle still maintains its place as the top team in the standings, even despite this loss. It was just her team's 2nd loss this season, while they won 10 other games. Udenze is a newcomer at Gimle, but is already one of team's top players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 12.0ppg (#2). She also registered 15.0 boards per game.
Third on the list of top players last round was forward Lise Johannesen (F-82) of Ulriken (#4). Johannesen showcased her all-around game by recording 25 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the last round. She was a key player of Ulriken, leading her team to a 79-71 win against #1 ranked Gimle. Ulriken needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 5 victories and 5 lost games. Johannesen has a very solid season. In 2 games in Norway she scored 12.5ppg.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Eeva-Maria Mannikkoe (G-83) of Oslo Tigers - 6 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists 5. The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
