Jones' double-double lands him Player of the Week award - Dec 22, 2012

  follow us on Facebook Twitter

24-year old forward Jonathan Jones (196-F-88) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's best team Tromso and receives a Player of the Week award for round 17.
He had a double-double of 27 points and 18 rebounds, while his team was edged out by Centrum (#2, 12-4) 84-82. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Despite this loss Tromso managed to keep Norwegian league leading position. But there are still few teams in the league, which Tromso can lose the games to. Now they are 12-3 and hopefully next round will be better. Jones turned to be Tromso's top player in his first season with the team. Kean University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Jones. Jones is in league's top in points (2nd best: 22.0ppg) and averages solid 55.9% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Stian Mjos (182-PG-89) of Baerum Basket. He is a guard in his first season at Baerum Basket. In the last game Mjos recorded impressive 27 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Of course Baerum Basket cruised to a 89-77 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked Gimle BBK (#5, 7-12). This victory allowed Baerum Basket to move up to 3rd position in the standings. His team's 8-8 record is not bad at all. Mjos is a newcomer at Baerum Basket and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Djo Yele (F/C-82) of Asker Aliens (#6). Yele scored 16 points and grabbed seventeen rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Asker Aliens, leading his team to a 86-77 win against slightly higher-ranked Gimle BBK (#5, 7-12). The chances of Asker Aliens ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 9 games, recording just six victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Yele could help Asker Aliens to bring them higher in the standings. Yele has a very solid season. In 5 games in Norway he scored 18.8ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Delano Thomas (203-F-81) of Gimle BBK - 24 points and 6 rebounds
5. Keith Thompson (197-F-90) of Baerum Basket - 24 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Gary Wallace (187-G-88) of Tromso - 21 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists
7. Marko Lepovic (194-F-94) of Centrum - 19 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Espen Stien (186-G-86) of Asker Aliens - 28 points, 2 rebounds and 5 assists
9. Mads Austgulen (193-F-86) of Centrum - 14 points and 6 rebounds
10. Yannik Amoikon (193-F-92) of Asker Aliens - 10 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
