Very significant was Tromso's (#1, 13-3) victory against second-best Centrum (12-5) 90-74. The game was mostly controlled by Tromso. Centrum managed to win third quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tromso dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Centrum's 40. 24 personal fouls committed by Centrum helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Jonathan Jones (196-88, college: Kean) had a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds (on 15-of-18 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Gary Wallace (187-88, college: Robert Morris, agency: TSS Management) chipped in 26 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Frank Nyborg (197-83) with 28 points and 6 rebounds. Tromso maintains first position with 13-3 record. Centrum at the other side keeps the second place with five games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
The game in Oslo supposed to be also worth to mention about. Third ranked Baerum Basket (9-8) played at the court of 7th ranked Ammerud Bskt (3-13). Baerum Basket smashed Ammerud Bskt 97-62. American swingman Ryan Ferranti (195-86, college: Rollins) notched 17 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and Ramme Haag supported him with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Even 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists by American swingman Ronald Timus (197-84, college: Morgan St.) did not help to save the game for Ammerud Bskt. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Baerum Basket maintains third position with 9-8 record having three points less than leader Tromso. Ammerud Bskt at the other side stay at the bottom place with 13 games lost. Baerum Basket will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
