Former international center Tina Nesse (183-C-84) had an amazing evening in the last round for Ammerud, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 16. The 28-year old player had a double-double of 23 points and 16 rebounds, while her team edged out Ulriken (#4, 8-7) 66-63. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Ammerud maintains the 3rd position in Norwegian Kvinneligaen. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Ammerud will need more victories to improve their 10-7 record. It's Nesse's second year at Ammerud and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Tina Nesse has solid league stats. She is in league's top in points (7th best: 7.0ppg) and rebounds (4th best: 3.0rpg).
The second best player in last round's games was another Ammerud's star - 25-year old Kristina Kroge (177-F-87). Kroge had a very good evening with 9 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. It was enough for Ammerud to edge slightly lower-ranked Ulriken (#4, 8-7) 66-63. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Ammerud consolidated its place in top 3 of the standings. Her team's 10-7 record is not bad at all. Kroge is a newcomer at Ammerud and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.
Third on the list of top players last round was guard Stine Austgulen (179-G-94) of Ulriken (#4). Austgulen showcased her all-around game by recording 21 points, five rebounds and six assists in the last round. Despite Austgulen's great performance Ulriken lost 63-66 to #3 ranked Ammerud. But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Ulriken needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 8 victories and 7 lost games. Austgulen has a very solid season. In 4 games in Norway she scored 24.8ppg.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Lise Breivik (181-F-93) of Ulriken - 10 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists 5. Kristine Kristiansen (173-G-75) of Ullern - 15 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists 6. Therese Hager (183-F-86) of Ullern - 14 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists 7. Tina Moen (181-G-86) of Ullern - 20 points and 6 rebounds 8. Siri Granheim (178-F-94) of BC Asker - 6 points, 15 rebounds and 3 assists 9. Elin Gulbrandsen (173-G-94) of BC Asker - 13 points and 8 rebounds 10. Marianne Sand (184-C-93) of Ammerud - 19 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists
The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
