Ferranti number one in Norway for round 22 - Feb 4, 2013

  follow us on Facebook Twitter

American swingman Ryan Ferranti (195-F/G-86) put on an amazing game in the last round for Baerum Basket, receiving a Player of the Week award for round 22.
The 26-year old player had a double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds, while his team beat Asker Aliens (#6, 7-11) 83-75. Baerum Basket maintains the 3rd position in Norwegian BLNO. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Baerum Basket will need more victories to improve their 12-9 record. It's Ferranti's second year at Baerum Basket and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Ryan Ferranti averages this season 14.1ppg and 6.1rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was 24-year old American Jonathan Jones (196-F-88) of league's leader Tromso. Jones had a very good evening with a double-double of 23 points and 19 rebounds. Bad luck as Tromso was edged by the lower-ranked Froya Basket (#4, 10-10) 79-78. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Tromso still maintains its place as the top team in the standings, even despite this loss. His team has currently 15-4 record. Jones is a newcomer at Tromso, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.5ppg (#1). He also registered 14.8 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Delano Thomas (203-F-81) of Gimle BBK (#5). Thomas scored 17 points and grabbed thirteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Thomas' great performance Gimle BBK lost 65-75 to the higher-ranked Tromso (#1, 15-4). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Gimle BBK ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 13 games, recording just nine victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Thomas could help Gimle BBK to bring them higher in the standings. Thomas has a great season in Norway. After 22 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.7ppg (4th best), rebounds with 10.4rpg (2nd best) and assists with 3.5apg (6th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Gerald January (201-C-88) of Ammerud Bskt - 26 points and 9 rebounds
5. Gary Wallace (187-G-88) of Tromso - 23 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Miilah Kombat (198-F-88) of Froya Basket - 18 points and 11 rebounds
7. Jonathan Jones (196-F-88) of Tromso - 17 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Roy Nwachukwu (196-F-90) of Ammerud Bskt - 14 points and 12 rebounds
9. Elias Westerlund (197-F-88) of Asker Aliens - 26 points and 7 rebounds
10. Reno Silavs (180-PG-91) of Froya Basket - 12 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Best players of Norwegian BLNO round 4 - 3 days ago

BLNO Round 4: Nidaros Jets lose to Ammerud - 4 days ago

It's still too early stage of the Regular Season in BLNO, but even now we can clearly see the differece between stronger teams and outsiders. There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with change at the leadership position, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin. The biggest surprise took place in Oslo where host Ammerud Bskt (1-3) edged league's leader Nidaros Jets (4-1) 70-67 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning stre...   [read more]

DR Congolese Power forward Djo Yele (203-F/C-82) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Asker Aliens, receiving a Player of the Week award for round 3. The 34-year old player had a double-double of 26 points and 18 rebounds, while his team edged out Gimle BBK (#6, 1-1) in overtime 92-88. Asker Aliens is placed at 7th position in Norwegian BLNO.
