James
Weatherspoon
American Forward James Weatherspoon (198-F-92) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for second-ranked Baerum Basket, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 18.
The 24-year old player had a double-double of 34 points and 12 rebounds, while his team crushed Gimle BBK (#4, 11-9) with 24-point margin 104-80. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Baerum Basket maintains the 2nd position in Norwegian BLNO. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Baerum Basket will need more victories to improve their 15-5 record. In the team's last game Weatherspoon had a remarkable 73.7% from 2-point range. He turned to be Baerum Basket's top player in his first season with the team. Former The University of Toledo star has very solid stats this year. Weatherspoon is in league's top in points (6th best: 19.0ppg), rebounds (8th best: 10.4rpg) and averages impressive 1.1bpg and 61.5% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 34-year old DR Congolese Djo Yele (203-F/C-82) of Asker Aliens. Yele had a very good evening with 32 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Of course Asker Aliens cruised to a 81-71 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked Nidaros Jets (#7, 10-11). Asker Aliens' 6th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 11-10 record is not bad and everything may still change. Yele is one of the most experienced players at Asker Aliens and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.0ppg (#4). He also registered 13.1 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was swingman Aksel Bolinz (201-G/F-90) of Centrum (#5). Bolinz showcased his all-around game by recording 19 points, fourteen rebounds (!!!) and five assists in the last round. He was a key player of Centrum, leading his team to a 96-57 easy win against Asker Aliens (11-10). Centrum needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 11 victories and 10 lost games. Bolinz has a great season in Norway. After 14 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 10.6rpg (6th best).

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
