Argentina conquered the third victory in Group B. Andres Nocioni (202-SF-79) tallied solid 37 points and 11 rebounds to lead Argentina past Brazil in double-overtime thriller. Argentina improved at 3-1 record, while Brazil slipped at 1-3 in the ladder.
Argentina sank 28 points in the opening frame to take a 9-point lead. Brazil bounced back with a 33-point second period to take a 52:44 halftime lead. Argentina pulled within 5 points at the third break. It all came down to the final seconds in regulation. Andres Nocioni drained an impressive three-pointer with just under four seconds left in regulation to tie things up at 85. The teams exchanged baskets throughout the first extra period. Manu Ginobili had a chance to win the game for Argentina but missed the final bucket in overtime. However Argentina poured in 16 points in the second extra period and got away with a thrilling victory at the end. Facundo Campazzo (179-PG-91) sank 33 points and issued 11 assists, while Luis Scola (206-F/C-80) had 14 points and 10 boards for Argentina. Nene Hilario (211-C-82) responded with 24 points and 11 rebounds for Brazil. Marcelinho Huertas (191-PG-83) and Alex Garcia (191-G-80, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 14 points apiece in the loss.
