The Regular Season in PLKK just ended. There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with derby games, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

Second-ranked CCC Polkowice (21-4) gave a tough game to first ranked Wisla Can-Pak (25-1) in Krakow on Saturday. Wisla Can-Pak managed to secure only two-point victory 70-68. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of CCC Polkowice. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 70-68. Swingman Nicole Powell (188-82, college: Stanford, agency: LBM Management) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Australian guard Erin Phillips (173-85) chipped in 14 points and 5 assists during the contest. Wisla Can-Pak's coach Jose Ignacio Hernandez used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Greek forward Evanthia Maltsi (180-78, agency: Josep and Nicolas) responded with 26 points and 8 rebounds. Wisla Can-Pak have an impressive 13-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 25-1 record. CCC Polkowice at the other side keeps the second place with four games lost.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Lotos Gdynia (20-6) against fourteenth ranked Inea AZS (3-23) on Saturday night. Visiting Lotos Gdynia was defeated by Inea AZS in a tough game in Poznan 59-63. American power forward Amber Petillon (193-82, college: Richmond) notched 9 points and 18 rebounds to lead the effort and Aneta Kotnis supported her with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Even a double-double of 26 points and 17 rebounds by Gabonese-French forward Geraldine Robert (184-80) did not help to save the game for Lotos Gdynia. Inea AZS maintains fourteenth position with 3-23 record. Lotos Gdynia at the other side keeps the third place with six games lost.

Lider Pruszkow smashed ROW Rybnik 86-42 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of ROW Rybnik. The best player for the winners was Laurie Koehn who scored 14 points. Mekia Valentine produced 7 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lider Pruszkow moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Gorzow. Loser ROW Rybnik keeps the fifth position with 11 games lost.


Eleventh-ranked Tecza Leszno (8-18) gave a tough game to ninth ranked Artego Bydg. (12-14) in Bydgoszcz. Artego Bydg. managed to secure only three-point victory 70-67. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Tecza Leszno. Agnieszka Szott orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 5 rebounds. Artego Bydg. maintains ninth position with 12-14 record. Tecza Leszno at the other side keeps the eleventh place with 18 games lost.


An interesting game took place in Poznan where higher ranked AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski (14-12) was upset on the court of thirteenth ranked MUKS Poznan (6-20) 61-57 on Saturday. Agnieszka Makowska had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. MUKS Poznan moved-up to twelfth place. Loser AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski keeps the sixth position with 12 games lost.

In the last two games of round 26 Widzew won against LKS Siemens on the opponent's court 76-65. Energa Torun managed to outperform Odra Brzeg in a home game 70-56.

Wisla Can-Pak - CCC Polkowice 70-68

Lider Pruszkow led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding ROW Rybnik to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Lider Pruszkow dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to ROW Rybnik's 26. Lider Pruszkow forced 27 ROW Rybnik turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Lider Pruszkow made 7 blocks. The guests trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 21-7 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Widzew dominated on the defensive end, holding LKS Siemens to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to LKS Siemens' 30. They outrebounded LKS Siemens 48-35 including 33 on the defensive glass. Very predictable result when fourth ranked Energa Torun (17-9) defeated at home 12th ranked Odra Brzeg (5-21) 70-56 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Energa Torun. Odra Brzeg was better in fourth quarter 13-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Energa Torun forced 20 Odra Brzeg turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists.
