With the today a play-off phase started in 2 liga. It qualified for her 8 teams from every of three groups. In every of group play-off phase is being played independently than remaining. After her 3 stages winners of every of group will get the direct promotion to 1 liga. Teams which will loose the final round, will play additional tournament for the last place awarded a promotion. One outright favorite and a few teams willing for the second place are in every group.
Who can get the promotion?
This group the most from everyone was dominated by one team. KS Open Florentyna Pleszew didn't lose a single one match in this season and still should stay to the end of play-off. The team having first league roster has very firmly filled every position on the court both in starting five as well as on the substitute's bench. The fight for the second place should also not bring surprises and should be decided among teams KPSW Astoria Bydgoszcz and KS Ksiezak Lowicz.
In this group we have one favorite and two strong teams from places 2-3. Slask II Wroclaw team finished regular season with 23-3 record and should win play-off phase. Team led by experienced post-up players with the past in the national team should be over the range of rivals. The fight for the second place in the end should take place between BM Wegiel Stal Ostrow Wielkopolski and AZS AWF Katowice. Both teams finished the season with 19-7 record and both are characterized by strong starting five and short bench. The winner of this duel will be a additional tournament.
The most unpredictable from every group. The winner of regular season PWiK Piaseczno finished with 22-2 record achieved this result thanks to run and gun style with lot of 3 point shoots. Universally it is known how big problems in the play-off phase have teams playing in this way, but in this case difference in basketball skills level between Piaseczno and rest of group is so big that this team should calmly win the final. There is a few candidates for the second place and it is hard to single one favorite out now.
First play-off round is playing in Best-of-three system.

American Point guard Anthony Ireland (175-PG-91) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Trefl Sopot, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 13. The 25-year old player was the main contributor (31 points, four rebounds and six assists) to his team's victory, helping them to outclass Asseco (#13, 5-9) with 30-point margin 96-66. Trefl Sopot is placed at 3rd position in Polish PLK. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Trefl Sopot will need more victories to improve their 9-5 record. In the team's last game Ireland had a remarkable 100.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be Trefl Sopot's top player in his first season with the team. Former Loyola Marymount University star has very solid stats this year. Ireland is in league's top in points (2nd best: 17.6ppg) and averages impressive 55.2% FGP.
The second best player in last round's games was 26-year old Krzysztof Sulima (202-C/F-90) of league's leader Torun. Sulima had a very good evening with 24 points and 5 rebounds. Of course Torun cruised to a 84-73 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Start Lublin (#17, 2-12). Of course Torun still keep the league's top spot. His team belongs to top of the standings with 13-1 record and is considered one of the main candidates for the league title. Sulima is one of the most experienced players at Torun and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.
Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Travis Releford (198-SG-90) of Siarka (#16). Releford scored 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Despite Releford's great performance Siarka lost 69-90 to slightly higher-ranked AZS Koszalin (#14, 5-9). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Siarka can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 2-12 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Releford he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Releford has individually a great season in Poland. After 11 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.5ppg (4th best).
Other top performing players last week: 4. Chris Czerapowicz (201-G-91) of Krosno - 21 points and 13 rebounds 5. Doug Wiggins (183-G-88) of Start Lublin - 12 points, 5 rebounds and 13 assists 8. Darrell Harris (205-C-84) of AZS Koszalin - 18 points and 8 rebounds 9. Shawn King (208-C-82) of Stal Ostrow - 10 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists 10. Kareem Maddox (202-F/C-89) of Krosno - 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists
The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
