Asseco Prokom clinched the first win in the semifinals versus Zastal Zielona Gora. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 33-18. But Zastal ZG won second period 26-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zastal ZG was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Jerel Blassingame (175-81, college: UNLV) nailed 31 points and 7 assists for the winning side and international center Adam Hrycaniuk (206-84, college: Cincinnati, agency: Alti Sport) accounted for 14 points and 14 rebounds. Asseco Prokom's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. PGE Turow outgunned Trefl in Sopot to take 1-0 lead. Trefl Sopot trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 30-22 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 94-98 at the end of the game. Lithuanian guard Giedrius Gustas (190-80, agency: Interperformances) stepped up and scored 20 points and 4 assists for the winners and Australian-Dutch center Daniel Kickert (208-83, college: St.Mary's, CA) chipped in 19 points. PGE Turow's coach Jacek Winnicki used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American power forward John Turek (205-83, college: Nebraska) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and the former international forward Filip Dylewicz (202-80) scored 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!). Trefl Sopot announced the name of their new head coach. Darius Maskoliunas will guide Trefl in 2013/14 season. The Lithuanian specialist worked with Lietuvos Rytas last season. He was fired in March. Previously he guided Zalgiris Kaunas. Darius Maskoliunas is not new to Sopot. He played for Trefl back in 1999/2003 seasons.
