The most shocking disappointment of round 9 in the 1Liga was a home defeat of second-best MKS DG (6-3) to third ranked Stal Ostrow (7-2) 83-72. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Stal Ostrow. MKS DG managed to win second period 23-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Stal Ostrow won last quarter 24-14. 25 personal fouls committed by MKS DG helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Point guard Marek Szumelda-Krzycki (193-PG-91, agency: Promotex) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and the former international forward Wojciech Szawarski (195-76) chipped in 26 points and 4 steals. The best for the losing side was swingman Marek Piechowicz (203-88) with 19 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Stal Ostrow have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with AZS Kutno. MKS DG at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with MOSiR Krosno. Stal Ostrow is looking forward to face Znicz Basket (#13) in Pruszkow in the next round which should be an easy win for them. MKS DG will play on the road against WIKANA Start (#14) in Lublin and is hoping to win this game.
1Liga top team - Slask Wroclaw (8-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat tenth ranked Znicz Basket (3-6) in Pruszkow 75-58. Forward Lukasz Diduszko (197-86) nailed a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winning side and Radoslaw Hyzy accounted for 11 points and 13 rebounds. point guard Adrian Sulinski (185-89, agency: Promotex) came up with 17 points and 5 rebounds for Znicz Basket in the defeat. Znicz Basket's coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Slask Wroclaw have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-1 record. Znicz Basket lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with six games lost. They share it with 5 other teams. Slask Wroclaw will play against UMKS Kielce (#15) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Znicz Basket will play against Stal Ostrow (#3) in Ostrow Wlkp. and hopes to get back on the winning track.
An interesting game took place in Torun where higher ranked P.Cukier SIDEn (5-4) was upset on its own court by fourteenth ranked AZS Radex (4-5) 79-72 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was Lukasz Pacocha who scored 22 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Adam Lisewski who recorded 15 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. AZS Radex moved-up to ninth place. P.Cukier SIDEn lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Polonia and Sokol Lancut. AZS Radex will meet higher ranked Polonia (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. P.Cukier SIDEn will play against MOSiR Krosno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
13th ranked UMKS Kielce (3-6) was outscored at home by fifteenth ranked Astoria Bydg. (3-6) with the biggest margin this round 92-66. It was a good game for Sebastian Laydych who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Astoria Bydg. moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated UMKS Kielce. Astoria Bydg.'s next round opponent will be league's second-placed AZS Kutno at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 9: MOSiR Krosno won against AZS PP on the opponent's court 85-67. Sokol Lancut managed to outperform Start Lublin in a home game 76-72. Spojnia recorded a loss to AZS Kutno on the road 58-54. SKK Siedlce was defeated by Polonia on its own court 50-59.

Znicz Basket - Slask Wroclaw 58-75

1Liga top team - Slask Wroclaw (8-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat tenth ranked Znicz Basket (3-6) in Pruszkow 75-58. The game was mostly controlled by Slask Wroclaw. Znicz Basket was better in second period 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Znicz Basket 45-31 including 30 on the defensive glass. Znicz Basket was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Lukasz Diduszko (197-86) nailed a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winning side and the former international forward Radoslaw Hyzy (203-77) accounted for 11 points and 13 rebounds. point guard Adrian Sulinski (185-89, agency: Promotex) came up with 17 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Marcin Matuszewski (194-82) added 5 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Znicz Basket in the defeat. Very expected game in Pozoan where 16th ranked AZS PP (1-8) was defeated by fifth ranked MOSiR Krosno (6-3) 85-67. The game without a history. MOSiR Krosno led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. MOSiR Krosno forced 20 AZS PP turnovers. It was a good game for point guard Kamil Laczynski (180-89) who led his team to a victory with 15 points, 7 assists and 5 steals. Forward Wojciech Pisarczyk (201-88) contributed with 10 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Five MOSiR Krosno players scored in double figures. Forward Pawel Stankiewicz (195-82) answered with 16 points and 4 assists and point guard Pawel Hybiak (173-89) added 12 points in the effort for AZS PP. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. MOSiR Krosno moved-up to fourth place, which they share with MKS DG. 13th ranked UMKS Kielce (3-6) was outscored at home by fifteenth ranked Astoria Bydg. (3-6) with the biggest margin this round 92-66. The game without a history. Astoria Bydg. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to UMKS Kielce's 42 and made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded UMKS Kielce 37-21 including a 29-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. Astoria Bydg. players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a good game for power forward Sebastian Laydych (203-87) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 4 assists. Rather predictable result when eighth ranked Sokol Lancut (5-4) defeated at home 12th ranked WIKANA Start (3-6) 76-72. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. WIKANA Start was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. 26 personal fouls committed by WIKANA Start helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for guard Michal Baran (185-80) who led his team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Center Kamil Gawrzydek (210-87, college: Idaho St.) contributed with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Marcel Wilczek (204-86) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds and swingman Tomasz Celej (198-78, agency: Promotex) added 24 points in the effort for WIKANA Start. Sokol Lancut moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Polonia and P.Cukier SIDEn. WIKANA Start at the other side dropped to the tenth position with six games lost. An interesting game took place in Torun where higher ranked P.Cukier SIDEn (5-4) was upset on its own court by fourteenth ranked AZS Radex (4-5) 79-72 on Saturday. AZS Radex forced 20 P.Cukier SIDEn turnovers. The best player for the winners was point guard Lukasz Pacocha (182-82, agency: Promotex) who scored 22 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Lukasz Biela (200-80) chipped in 17 points. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Adam Lisewski (206-80) who recorded 15 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and guard Piotr Smigielski (190-89) added 17 points and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. AZS Radex moved-up to ninth place. P.Cukier SIDEn lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Polonia and Sokol Lancut. AZS Radex will meet higher ranked Polonia (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. P.Cukier SIDEn will play against MOSiR Krosno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

AZS Kutno - Spojnia 58-54

Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Spojnia (3-6) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked AZS Kutno (7-2) 58-54. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Spojnia won third quarter 15-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when AZS Kutno won last quarter 14-11. AZS Kutno outrebounded Spojnia 34-22 including 24 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for forward Jakub Dluski (200-87) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 7 rebounds. point guard Dawid Brek (185-89, agency: Promotex) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Guard Tomasz Stepien (193-86) answered with 16 points and forward Hubert Pabian (202-89, agency: Promotex) added 11 points in the effort for Spojnia. The victory was the third consecutive win for AZS Kutno. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Stal Ostrow. Spojnia at the other side dropped to the tenth position with six games lost. AZS Kutno's next round opponent will be Astoria Bydg. (#10) in Bydgoszcz and are hoping to win another game. Spojnia will play on the road against SKK Siedlce and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

It looked good early as SKK Siedlce took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Polonia had a 19-11 second period charge getting the lead and SKK Siedlce was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 50-59. It was a good game for the former international guard Grzegorz Kukielka (192-83, agency: Promotex) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Tomasz Przewrocki (192-76) contributed with 11 points for the winners. point guard Radoslaw Basinski (188-78) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Tomasz Deja (200-83) added 12 points in the effort for SKK Siedlce. Polonia moved-up to sixth place, which they share with P.Cukier SIDEn and Sokol Lancut. SKK Siedlce lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with six games lost.
